Mission and Vision Statements
CFL Vision
At CFL, we are an uplifting crew who embrace our students, staff, and families in a kind and fun learning environment where all can grow.
CFL Communication
Dear CFL Families,
I hope you all enjoyed your Fall Break, and now the winter holiday season is upon us! Thank you to all the families that took part on the CFL Harvest Feast. What a wonderful turnout. We served 400 people as well as delivered meals to some of our families. This tradition is very near and dear to our staff and we hope to continue for many years to come.
Reminder: It is getting COLD out there. Please support your child in dressing appropriately for the winter weather. On most days, our students will be outside to play which means hats, coats, snow pants, boots, mittens, etc. will be important for them to stay warm and dry! (Be sure to label all clothing, and check our lost & found if you find items missing!)
The last day of school prior to winter break will be Friday December 19th. Winter Break is December 22nd -January 5th. Classes will resume on Tuesday January 6th. As a reminder, our doors open for breakfast at 7:15 and our day ends at 3:00.
I want to wish you all a very Happy and Safe Holiday Season and hope you all enjoy a wonderful and relaxing winter break! See you in 2026!
Sincerely,
Kim Frees
CFL Principal
Holiday Parties
As the Holiday Season approaches, we are preparing for our holiday traditions and classroom celebrations. Specific Party times and dates will be sent home in Wednesday Folders. Most classrooms will have simple treats (individually wrapped and prepackaged) and fun activities. All food brought in needs to be store bought. If you plan to participate, all volunteers need to be in our safety system, Raptor. If you have not already, make sure to stop at the office with your ID so we can get you in the system. We will have multiple check in tables to expedite check in.

Attendance Matters
Dear Families,
Our priority this school year is to ensure that every student attends school regularly.
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in Pre School and Kindergarten. Parents play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school regardless of the reason, it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent—which means missing 18 or more days over the course of an entire school year.
Research shows:
Children chronically absent in kindergarten and 1st grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
We don’t want your child to fall behind in school and get discouraged. Please ensure that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:
Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
Ensure your students go to school every day unless they are truly sick
Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your children feel anxious about going to school.
Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up.
Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your child to school.
Hello Preschool Families,
Wow—it's already December! We hope your child is enjoying preschool and growing in confidence each day. As I step into classrooms, I see joyful, happy children deeply engaged in learning. It may look like play, but play is truly the work of childhood. Through play, children build language, early reading foundations, math skills, problem solving, and strong social–emotional abilities.
One of the most powerful things you can do at home is to spend 15 minutes of uninterrupted time playing with your child. Put away phones, turn off the TV, and follow their lead. This simple daily routine builds connection, strengthens language, and boosts early literacy and math development. Your time is the best learning tool they have.
👚 Clothing Celebration – Friday, December 12th
We are excited to host our Preschool Clothing Celebration on Friday, December 12th!
Each classroom is creating a Clothing Collage, and we need your help. More information to come from your child's teacher.
NEW Family Engagement Project Starting January 2026
Beginning in January, we are launching a new monthly Preschool Math-at-Home Activity to support your child’s early math development. We know that families play a huge role in supporting these foundational skills, and we appreciate your partnership.
Each month, your child will bring home one simple math activity to complete together four times during the month. These activities will help build critical early math skills, including:
Oral counting to 20
Counting objects with one-to-one correspondence
Recognizing and naming numbers
These early math skills are essential building blocks that support future success in kindergarten and beyond. We appreciate your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. December is full of excitement and learning, and we are grateful to partner with you as your child grows.
If you ever have questions or need additional resources, please reach out anytime.
Warmly,Ms. Hills
Winter Music EXTRAVAGANZA
Our Winter Music EXTRAVAGANZA is quickly approaching and students are hard at work preparing some fun winter songs to perform for you!
