Book Fair Week!
Dear BES Families,
This week is our Book Fair. You can find everything below - do not forget to buy your grand event tickets ahead of time if you plan to eat. That way we know how much to cook. We hope to see you all at the Family Night as well - that is tomorrow night! There are some great prizes you can enter to win!
We will be holding an election at BES this Tuesday for the Presidential election. The fifth grade will also be holding their election for the upcoming Biz Town field trip. Good luck to all our candidates!
Our students will be walking to LHS this week to practice for the upcoming Veterans Day programs. 5th graders will go over Thursday before lunch and 3rd/4th graders will head over after lunch on Friday.
Next Monday is our Veterans Day Concert day. Please note that 5th grade performs with the middle and high school students at 10am. The 3rd and 4th graders will perform at 1pm, along with RES students.
On November 14th, our school is honoring the bravery of Ruby Bridges. We hope to be selected to watch Ruby Bridges live in Topeka on that day, but we won't find out if we are chosen until November 6th. We have other activities planned, including watching the Ruby Bridges movie. We are still looking for volunteers to walk with kids to school that morning. We are also looking for someone to come talk about what they remember about Ruby Bridges, perhaps a grandparent or neighbor remembers those events in 1960 and could share with our students. Please reach out!
Have a great week!

KS Supreme Court Session Coming to Louisburg!
The Kansas Supreme Court will visit Louisburg High School Tuesday, November 12, to hear oral argument in one case.
Students and parents who attend this special evening session will get to watch the Supreme Court in action as it hears an actual Kansas case involving real questions of law. It’s a way to learn about the court and the judicial branch of government.
The Supreme Court will be in session from 6:30 p.m. to about 7:15 p.m. Afterward, Supreme Court justices will meet with the public in an informal reception.
More information about this event is on the Supreme Court travel docket webpage. The page includes a summary of the case to be heard, the questions before the court, and briefs filed by attorneys for the parties.
Please join us November 12 for this rare opportunity to learn about our state’s highest court and meet its seven justices.

Seasonal Support Newsletter
Believe it or not, cold weather and the holiday season are fast approaching. We wanted to share with you some free resources for winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts (Christmas gift program is for Louisburg children birth to 18). There are deadlines to each that, again, as far away as they seem, will be here in no time. The added expense of winter coats and holiday costs can be a heavy burden. If your family could benefit from a little extra support to ease that burden, then we hope these resources will do just that! Please see our newsletter to learn about some wonderful resources! Attendance and School Calendars
Receive an Attendance Email from School?
If you receive an attendance letter from school, it is meant to inform you of your student's absences or tardies. This way you can also keep track of the days gone and how to plan ahead to
miss fewer days.
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
