Test Prep Tips for Parents
- Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep
- Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast
- Be sure your child charges their Chromebook overnight and brings their district-issued Chromebook fully charged and charger
- Arrive on time
- Encourage them to try their best!
Important Testing Information
Students should arrive between 8:20 am and 8:45 am to locate and arrive at their testing room. Wall rosters of room placements will be posted in the upstairs and downstairs grade-level houses.
Students must bring their district-issued Chromebook (fully charged) and charger on testing day.
This is how students will take and submit their STAAR test. LTISD is not providing extra Chromebooks on this day.
Students should ensure Chromebook is updated prior to testing day. Please reference these instructions for details of this process.
Students should bring the following items with them on testing day:
Water and snacks/lunch-access to microwaves will be limited (if they do not want to buy from the cafeteria that day)
Snacks will be available for purchase in the cafeteria before school.
Sweater or jacket
Something to do after testing is done that does not require technology (book, homework, etc.)
Students have the full day to complete their test. Students will not be released early from the testing room until the end of the scheduled testing; we want all students to have adequate time to pace themselves and not feel rushed.
All personal devices (phones, smart watches, Bluetooth earbuds, Kindles, etc.) will expected to be turned off and in backpacks during testing. Test security procedures are in place this entire time and do not end when a student and/or room has completed testing. Violations to this policy may result in their test being invalidated as well as being subject to school discipline.
Parents should not pick up students while testing is taking place across the building. Students leaving early cause disruptions to other students so please refrain from picking up your student early. Please plan appointments and travel accordingly.
Students taking Math 8 STAAR, Algebra EOC, and Science 8 STAAR: please bring your personal calculator to use on these testing days if you own one. The school will provide a calculator for those who do not have their own.
