Be The Match
Be The Match
HOSA is raising funds and hope for patients with blood cancer and other life-threatening blood diseases.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. Your gift helps deliver cures to patients desperate for a second chance at life.
NMDP is a global leader working every day to save lives through cell therapy.
The money we raise will add new potential life-saving donors to the NMDP Registry, provide financial assistance to remove financial barriers to transplant for patients, and fund groundbreaking research.
Along with donating money you can also join our registry! NMDP also has a list or registry of people that are willing to help donate Stem-Cells or Bone Marrow. Taking this action is giving a new future to those who are struggling with these illnesses.
What does it mean to join our registry? It means that NMDP can send you a kit to test to see if you're a match for anyone who needs the help. If you are then you have the opportunity to donate the Stem-Cells or Bone Marrow. The Stem-Cells are compared to your typical donating blood.
Every member to our registry, or donation counts. Together, we can make a difference!
Blood Drive
HOSA is sponsoring a blood drive this March. The blood drive has been around at the high school for quite some time. HOSA teams up with the Red Cross to do two drives every year, one in October and one in March. The drives are usually managed by the HOSA club members. Each blood drive brings in 30 to 50 people! There is a national critical blood shortage right now and HOSA aims to ease that need a bit.

ESPORTS
Blackfoot High School Esports is about to start its third official Idaho Esports Association competition in February. We are playing against other high schools all over Idaho in games online.
We compete in Super Smash Bros, Valorant, Overwatch, and League of Legends games. Last year, we placed 5th in both Smash Bros and Valroant. We hope to make it to State again and bring back some trophies.
ATHLETICS
Athletics were so busy last month they missed telling you about the exciting things they had happening. Our winter sports are as busy as ever right now. Boys and girls Basketball will be heading to Districts soon. Girls basketball had an awesome buzzer beater finish against our cross town rival Snake River. It’s always a good day to win against them. One of our girl basketball players, Marlee Pieper, was named by the local news Athlete of the Week.
Wrestling has had some great things happening as well. First, Kylan Guerra signed his letter of intent to further his education and wrestle for Eastern Oregon University. One of our freshman girl wrestlers, Keanna Conrad, has had an amazing season so far. First she was named IHSAA Athlete of the Week. Then received an Outstand Wrestler award for girls middle weight at the Rollie Lane Championship in Nampa. Finally, she just won 2024 Tiger Grizz Champion and Outstanding wrestler at the Tiger Grizz tournament in Idaho Falls. Mack Mauger also won the 2024 Tiger Grizz Champion and Outstanding wrestler at the Tiger Grizz tournament in Idaho Falls. Wrestling season is not over yet so come out and watch these great wrestlers. We will be hosting the Wrestling 4A Districts here on February 14th all day. It would be a great time to come watch.
Our Cheerleaders and Fillies dance teams have been busy cheering and performing at the basketball games along with competing at their own competitions. Both teams have just a few weeks until they will be competing at districts. So far the Cheerleaders have “swept” us away with the amazing routines at their competitions. They have won 1st in all three routines in the first three competitions, and placed 1st in two routines and 2nd in their third routine at the last competition in Jerome. They also won Overall Grand Champions at the competition they attended in Pocatello. The Fillies have also been keeping us on our toes watching their amazing talent! At the first competition the Fillies competed in they won 2nd place in dance and military, and 3rd place in pom and hip-hop. The Fillies second competition we hosted here at BHS and when dance teams host a competition they don't take awards and just use the competition as an opportunity to practice performing their routines in front of a crowd. At their third competition the Fillies took 2nd in dance and military, and at their last competition they took 2nd in dance and military. After team performances they compete in an individual drill down competition against every dancer at the competition, and a few of the girls have also competed with a solo dance in the solos division at just a couple of the competitions. Elizabeth Shutes took 1st place in the drill down at one of our competitions, and at another Makayla Hasselbring took 3rd and Addy Barry took 2nd in their drill down. At the second competition attended Chloe Lilya competed with her Lyrical solo and placed 2nd, and placed 1st with it at their last competition. Chloe also won best overall with her Lyrical at the last competition. Keep raking in the awards ladies, great job!
We are so proud of the time and dedication our athletes spend practicing and competing in the sports they love. Districts are right around the corner followed by state tournaments so if you want to come out and watch, check our district Facebook page or click the link below for more information.
BALLROOM
Ballroom competed in Utah at the Synergy Dancesport Festival in January. Our ballroom dance team won 2nd place with their Salsa Dance in a large group, and won 3rd place with their Swing dance in large group. Way to go Ballroom!!
