Parents are welcome to drop off their child(ren)'s lunch to our lunch table. Please be sure it is labelled with their name and teacher. If children will be going home for lunch each day, it is our expectation that your child will go directly to their own home and then return to school. A written note signed by a parent/guardian will be required for any students who normally stay for lunch to go out for lunch. Students are encouraged to arrive at school with a full, reusable water bottle along with snacks and lunch each day.
Please note that 3rd party delivery is not permitted.
Due to safety reasons St. Aidan school will not accept food deliveries for students from any third party delivery services.

SafeVoice
At the beginning of September, we held our Catholic Code of Conduct assemblies with all students. One important topic we covered was the DPCDSB Safe Schools “SafeVOICE” platform—a tool that allows students to report concerns related to safety, bullying, or well-being in a confidential and respectful manner.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is committed to the safety and well-being of all students. To support this, DPCDSB offers SafeVoice, a confidential Safe Schools Tool for students to share concerns about bullying, harassment, discrimination, or other issues. Students can access SafeVoice from the DPCDSB homepage, the Student Portal, their school website, or directly at dpcdsb.org/SafeVoice. The form allows students to provide information about incidents they’ve experienced or witnessed, including details about who was involved and when and where it took place. Students may choose to remain anonymous or include their name and contact information if they wish to be contacted directly by a school administrator.
All submissions are reviewed by the school Principal and Vice-Principal, unless a concern involves a Principal or Vice-Principal, in which case it is directed to the Superintendent.
SafeVoice is one of the many ways DPCDSB works with students, staff, and families to foster safe, caring, inclusive, and faith-filled school communities.
If you need to share information about a crime, please contact Crime Stoppers, Peel Regional Police, or the Ontario Provincial Police.
Emergency Information
It is important that we are able to contact someone in the case of an emergency. Please fill out and return the emergency student verification sheets that will be sent home soon with your child. Remember those people you list as contacts are given permission to pick up your child from school.
School Volunteers
Just a reminder that if you are interested in volunteering within the school in any capacity, including field trips, student support, Catholic School Council member, etc., a Valid Criminal Reference Check (CRC), with Vulnerable Sector and Local Records Check is required. Please note that there may be some time required to process a CRC, thus waiting for an announced volunteer opportunity to obtain your CRC may not provide sufficient time for processing. Therefore, we are asking all parents that if you feel that you may be interested in volunteering in any capacity in the school this year, it may be best to start the process now.
ATTENDANCE VERIFICATION
It is important for students to be at school on time and ready to work. When students are late they miss important information and routines. We realize that throughout the year there will be times that your child will be away from school.
SafeArrival is an application within SchoolMessenger that will allow parents/guardians to report their children’s absences in one of the following three ways:
SchoolMessenger App
SchoolMessenger website https://go.schoolmessenger.ca
Toll Free number 1-844-435-3440
What is SafeArrival:
SafeArrival is an absence management system that improves student safety.
It supports school staff to follow up on unexcused absences.
It allows parents and/or guardians to notify the school in advance about an upcoming absence.
In the event that your child is late or absent, please use one of the three ways to access Safe Arrival.
Students who arrive late to school must proceed to the office to sign in.
Kiss N' Ride
In order to ensure the safety of our students, parents/guardians are asked to adhere to the following drop-off and pick-up rules:
1. Parents/Guardians who are dropping off/picking up Kindergarten, Grade 1 students, or those requiring assistance, will park in a designated parking spot and walk their child to their designated area in the school yard.
2. Students in Grades 2 - 8 (who do not require assistance) may be dropped off/picked up in the Kiss ‘N Ride.
3. All students who are picked up at the end of the day will proceed to the Kiss ‘N Ride area.
4. In order to maintain traffic flow, please leave Kiss ‘N Ride area once drop off/pick up is complete.
5. Please do not leave your car unattended.
6. There is no parking/stopping in Drive Through Lanes or Bus Lanes.
🚌 StopR 🚌
If your child rides the bus daily, it is important that they are aware of the safety rules on the bus. Students are required to:
- Listen to the Bus Driver at all times and report any problems or injuries to him/her
- Go directly to their assigned seat and remain seated during the entire bus ride
- Do not eat, drink, swear, fight or chew gum on the bus
- Do not put arms out the window, or throw items or garbage out the window
- Be at least 5 minutes early at your bus stop to ensure that you don't miss the bus
Reminder: Student Transportation Opt-Out Procedure
We would like to remind families of the procedure for opting out of student transportation.
During transportation planning, STOPR automatically assigns school bus transportation to all students who are eligible based on the established distance policies.
If your child is eligible for transportation but does not require bus services for any reason, you must formally opt out. This applies to:
-
Regular or special education students attending after-school programs such as PLASP or YMCA
-
Students who have a babysitter within the walk boundary
-
Students who are consistently driven to and from school by a parent, guardian, or relative
If your child is eligible for the bus this year but will not need transportation for the 2025/2026 school year, please inform your child's teacher or notify the school office. This allows us to update our school bus lists accordingly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
If your child takes the bus remember to check STOPR.ca regularly for updates or changes.

St. Aidan Thanksgiving Food Drive
We’re so grateful for the generous contributions we’ve received so far.
Please continue to send in non-perishable food items to support our Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our community!
Medical
St. Aidan CES is an Allergen Aware school. There are pupils in attendance who suffer from severe and life threatening allergies to certain foods, such as dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, oats, and seafood. Exposure to the smallest quantities can trigger a severe life-threatening reaction. The safety and well-being of all our students is a priority. Please DO NOT send any lunches or snacks that contain peanuts and/or tree nuts, including peanut butter substitute products. Please make sure that all your children’s caregivers are aware of the food restrictions. Please avoid sending food for birthdays or special occasions. Should there be additional allergy concerns in specific classrooms, the classroom teacher will share information.
Storage of Medication
Some of our students require medications during the school day. All medication is to be stored in the office except where directed by a physician. Board Policy requires that we have signed request/authorization forms from the parents and the supervising physician in the office. These forms are available at the office. When medication is approved for storage, it must be labeled with the student name, name of medication, prescription information and dosage. The medication is to be brought to the school in the bottle that was provided by the pharmacist. Please do not have students deliver medication to the office; it should be brought in by an adult. Medication that is sent to school without the proper documentation cannot be stored. This also applies to over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, cough medicine, Benadryl and allergy medications.
Concussion Protocol
The DPCDSB has a Concussion Protocol in place. All students who sustain a head injury during the school day, however minor, will receive a concussion pamphlet to take home. We ask parents/guardians to review this pamphlet and seek medical attention for your son/daughter if you feel it is required. All head injuries will be logged and reported to parents/guardians. We ask that you please inform the school as soon as possible if and when your son/ daughter sustains a concussion as a result of a school incident or as a result of an activity outside of school.
