The Lion's RoarAugust 14, 2026

A Note From Mr. Hulsey: A Note From Mr. Hulsey:

As we finish the first full week, many great things are happening. The few issues that we are having are because of tremendous growth (almost 12%) from last year and 60 new students. As we go through the good challenge of growth, please let us know if we can be of assistance in any area. I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night at the "Back to School Bash"

2026-2027 School Verse 2026-2027 School Verse

Each year, a verse is chosen to represent that school year. This year, our verse and focus will be Psalm 118:24: "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Upper School students will have an opportunity to recite this verse to our Chaplain, Greyson Smith, during the week of August 31 to earn points for their color team.

Upper School Retreat Upper School Retreat

We are less that a week away from our annual fall retreat that will take place on August 19 -21, 2026. We will travel to Look Up Lodge which is located on Highway 11 near Marietta. This will be a time of uplifting praise and worship through singing, small groups, and large group talks. There will also be lots of fun and fellowship.

We plan to leave ACS shortly after the start of school on Wednesday, August 19. Students need to arrive at the usual time of 9:00. We will arrive at Look Up Lodge in time to settle in our bunks and have lunch together. We will return to ACS on Friday, August 21, between 2:00 and 2:30 pm at the front office building.

All meals, activities, and lodging are included. Cabins have bunks with mattresses, but you will need to bring bedding or a sleeping bag.

Students are NOT permitted to bring cell phones to retreat. This is a time for all of us to “unplug” and get to know each other. In the case of an emergency, you may call Mr. Hicks at 864-540-8591 or you may call the school at 864-224-7309. The office staff will get the message to Mr. Hicks immediately.

Clothing for the Retreat - All clothing should follow school dress code with no tank tops, camisoles, or bike shorts. (Bike shorts can be worn if they are under another garment approved but not alone.) All items worn will be subject to school approval and may be asked to not be worn if deemed not modest enough. All students will need closed toed shoes.

Dietary Restrictions - If your child has any special dietary needs, please send an email to foodservice@lookuplodge.com . Let them know that your child is with Anderson Christian School and will be staying from August 19 - 21. They will work with you to make sure that your child’s needs are met.

MEDICATIONS - If your student needs to take any regularly dosed medication(s) during retreat, please complete the form included in this email. Please list and include any over the counter medications that your student takes daily. Please fill out the form and return it to the front office with the medications on Wednesday morning (August 19). All medications and forms must be in a Zip-loc bag.

Note: We will have chapel the first school day of each week. So, if Monday is a holiday, we will have chapel on Tuesday. This means that the first day of school, because it is the first school day of that week, will also be a chapel day.

Senior Retreat Senior Retreat

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, the seniors went on the senior retreat. It was a time of fun, fellowship, and preparation for their senior year. On this trip, the Senior class wrote a mission statement: “As the Senior Class of Anderson Christian School, we will commit to use our influence to confidently encourage others, to be present and inclusive, and to leave ACS better and more spirited than it was.” A big thank you to Josh Brown for the use of his conference room!

We are looking for parents who would like to volunteer and help coach our Anderson Christian School Archery program!

To assist with practices and tournaments, volunteers must complete a NASP Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) Certification. This one-day training equips you with the knowledge and certification needed to safely coach and support our student-athletes.

Upcoming BAI Training Dates:
August 22 – Thornwell Charter School
September 5 – St. James High School
September 19 – East Point Academy (Middle Campus)
October 17 – Walhalla High School
November 7 – Greenville Technical Charter High School
December 5 – South Aiken Baptist Christian School

If you enjoy working with students and would like to invest in our archery program, we would love to have you join our coaching team! No previous coaching experience is required—just a willingness to learn and encourage our athletes.

If you're interested or would like more information about registering for a BAI certification, please contact Coach Medina or Lisa Hill.

Thank you for supporting ACS Athletics and helping us provide a Christ-centered experience for our student-athletes.
