Math MCAS is Next Week! Math MCAS is Next Week!

zoom_out_map

Students in grades 7, 8, and 10 have MCAS math testing next Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22. On both days, the testing starts promptly at 8:00am. Students must bring their fully charged school-issued Chromebook with them for testing; students who did not sign out a Chromebook will be able to borrow one for testing. The best way to prepare for testing is to get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast that morning.

After next week, there are only two MCAS tests remaining:

  • Civics grade 8 (part 2) - Thursday, May 30
  • High School Biology - Tuesday & Wednesday, June 4-5

Community Service Day Community Service Day

8th grade and 11th grade students will participate in a community service activity next Tuesday, May 21. In the morning, juniors will head to St. Mary's Cemetery to help the Town place new flags on the graves of veterans in preparation for Memorial Day. They will take a bus to the cemetery around 8:30 and will enjoy a nice walk back, coming back to school around 10:30.

That afternoon, 8th grade students will walk to Fairmont Cemetery down the street to help the Town place flags there. They will leave LMHS right after lunch, and will return by 2:15.

We hope that these students can take pride in both helping to serve the town, and memorialize town veterans.

When will my senior receive his/her cap and gown?

Caps and gowns will be distributed after the 2nd graduation practice on Wednesday, May 29.

Can we decorate the cap and gown for Class Night and/or graduation?

Nothing may be added to the gown, other than official ribbons, cords, and the like awarded by the school (these are typically received on Class Night). The top of the cap (mortarboard) may be decorated with a 2-dimensional design that is school-appropriate.

When will yearbooks be distributed?

Seniors will receive yearbooks after the 2nd graduation practice on Wednesday, May 29. Seniors will be provided with a pizza lunch that day so they can sign yearbooks for a while after rehearsal ends.

Can you remind us of required events?

In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, seniors must attend both practices (Tuesday, May 28 at 9:00am and Wednesday, May 29 at 8:30am). Both rehearsals will go as long as necessary to cover the required material. Class Night is also mandatory, on Thursday, May 30 at 6:30pm. And, of course, graduation is Saturday, June 1 at 1:30pm at Tanglewood.
