MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Lindblom Families,
WELCOME BACK!!! We are in the last stretch of semester one and these next few weeks will pass by very quickly. I hope everyone had a blessed and rejuvenating Thanksgiving break. Temperatures are colder and inclement weather conditions will occur more frequently. I ask that you be understanding as our traffic control team adjusts in response to inclement weather conditions.
There are a few reminders that I must bring to your attention in the best interest of all parties involved.
Our school building opens at 7:00am. Please do not drop off students earlier than 7:00am with the expectation that someone will allow them into the building. We recommend students remain in your car until the building opens.
Teachers will communicate their respective final assessment schedules. All students are advised to leverage Colloquium Day flexes as opportunities to secure academic, post-secondary, and SEL support. We encourage parents to work with students to make informed decisions regarding the flexes they select.
Dismissal is at 3:05pm daily, with the exception of Colloquium Day (2:48pm). Please make the necessary arrangements to pick up your student(s) before 5:00pm if they are not involved in an athletic, enrichment, or SEL after-school program.
Last but not least, I will deliver our 2025 State of the School address on December 2, 2025 at 6p.m. If you are not able to join us in person, you can join virtually here.
Together we rise onward and upward.

Student Spotlight
Congratulations to Shaundria McLaurin! Shaundria was selected to attend a Winter Camp in Hangzhou, China, hosted by Zhejiang University. This is an incredible opportunity!
An organization based in Chicago & founded by a Lindblom alum has highlighted her on their website.

Chinese Culture Club
The Chinese Culture Club and several AP Chinese students visited the Culture Center of TECO in Chicago (Taiwan Culture Center). This annual field trip provided a valuable learning opportunity that deepened students’ understanding of Chinese culture and language. In addition to participating in cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy and glove puppetry, students also enjoyed a Chinese lunch. As always—and as this tradition continues—this trip greatly enriches students’ learning experiences and supports our curriculum goals.
We appreciate the partnership and opportunities provided by the Culture Center of TECO in Chicago (Taiwan Culture Center).

Anatomy and Medical Science Experience
Anatomy and medical colloquium students went to Northwestern to meet with the sports medicine team to see their training facilities, treatment areas, and talk with nutritionists. They were able to see division 1 athletes training and getting medical treatment to learn about how entire teams of professionals work together to keep athletes healthy.
CDC Updates
In addition to making sure you and your family are up-to-date with your vaccines, we encourage you to get tested for COVID-19 before and after group gatherings, and before returning to school after winter break.
Every day preventive actions can also help keep you and your loved ones healthy:
-Wash your hands often with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
-Cover your coughs and sneezes using a tissue or your elbow.
-If your child is sick, keep them home except to get medical care. Even if your school-aged child appears to have mild symptoms, younger siblings can become very sick from the same virus.
-Maximize indoor ventilation and air circulation by opening windows and hosting activities outdoors whenever possible.
-Wear a mask if you develop any symptoms, such as a runny nose, cough, or fever.
-Wear a mask when in crowded places and when around medically vulnerable individuals.
To learn more about the vaccines and all services that the CPS Office of Student Health and Wellness can offer, please visit cps.edu/vaccines or call the Healthy CPS Hotline at (773) 553-KIDS (5437).

Important Update on Recent SNAP Program Changes
Last month, Legal Aid Chicago held a webinar on October 29 to explain the recent changes to the SNAP Program.
Please find the links to the webinar recording and the training deck below.
At the time of the webinar, the government shutdown had caused delays in SNAP payments. The first part of the presentation explains those delays, which have now been resolved. The second part reviews changes to the work requirement and available exemptions. This information is still very relevant and may be helpful for your household.

BE IMPACTFUL
Attendance Matters
Students and parents will begin to receive notifications of the student's failure to serve detention and next steps. We are requesting your partnership to uphold our beliefs of the importance of students being present and on time to class and the positive impact that it has on student's academic success. We encourage you to log into your Aspen Parent Portal and view your child's daily attendance and/or reach out to our attendance coordinator, Mr. Hayes if you have questions, bdhayes2@cps.edu.
Students must ALWAYS have LMSA School ID on them, whether physical or electronic.
Students must manage their time during the passing period to ensure they make it to class on time.
Students who are tardy to class will need to visit the tardy scanners located on each floor to scan in and retrieve a tardy pass.
Students must arrive in class within three (3) minutes from the time indicated on the tardy pass.
Any student without a pass in the hallway after the initial hall sweep will be escorted to the nearest tardy station to receive a pass.
