2023 Alumni Career Day
On Friday, April 21, CMHS welcomed alumni back to campus to share their success and experience with the juniors and seniors. We welcomed Bailey LeForge, 2017 Graduate and Owner of Sole Stop, as our keynote speaker. He shared his experiences building his own business and continuing to give back to his community.
After the keynote speaker, alumni introduced themselves (graduation year, career path, current position, words of wisdom, etc.) and participated in several rounds of information about their post-high school experience, first job, career transitions, and other miscellaneous categories. After the panel, students were encouraged to speak to alumni in their fields of interest, and alumni raffled off prizes from their business. It was great to see so many successful falcons returning to the nest to share their knowledge with our graduating seniors.
The following alumni joined us for the second annual Career Day:

Final Exam Exemptions for EOC-Tested Areas
Final Exam Exemption based upon End of Course Test Results:
In recognition of the importance of End of Course Assessment results for students in their pursuit of graduation, we would like to offer an incentive to motivate students to invest their maximum preparation testing effort and full attention toward these measures as they are assessed in April & May.
If students are able to achieve a passing "proficient (700 or above) or competent (Algebra & ELA II - 684 or above)" score on their respective EOC assessments (Algebra, Geometry, Biology, English 10, U.S. History, Government), they will be offered an exemption from their final exam in the correlating course(s). This policy does not apply to CCP courses, vocational students, or Falcon Flex students.
If students desire to utilize this option, their exam grade will be entered as an average of the 3rd & 4th quarter grades.
Students may choose to forgo this opportunity of exemption and take their final exam in these respective courses to improve their overall final grade and test-taking skills. They may do this with the assurance that their exam grade outcome will be no lower than an average of their 3rd/4th Quarter grades.
Students are obligated under graduation requirements to attain course credit in each of these classes and for some of the tested areas, achieve a passing EOC score as a part of graduation eligibility.

CCP Information for Next Year
1. You must watch the information/counseling presentation (either have attended in person on February 9 at CMHS, have gone to the session at Laurel, or watched the video link online).
2. You (and a parent) must complete the Letter of Intent to participate in CCP for the 2023-2024 school year. This must be completed by ALL students who want to participate in CCP, even if you have previously participated. If you completed the forms at the Laurel Oaks session, that is fine.
3. You must go on to the websites for the college(s) of your choosing and apply to be a CCP student. If you are currently a CCP student (or were accepted within the last two years), you do not need to reapply. Here is a link to Sinclair's site (you'll use this if you're taking classes at CMHS).
4. Once you have applied, the college will reach out to the Guidance Office to ask for your transcript and other needed information. We will get that information sent to the college.
5. You may need to take placement testing. If you're graduating in 2024 or 2025 and you have a 3.0 unweighted GPA AND have two completed English credits and/or three completed math credits, you likely will not need to test for placement in fall classes; however, if you want to take summer classes, you may still need to test if you are Class of 2025. If you're in the Class of 2026 and beyond, you will need to take placement testing, regardless of your GPA. The college you want to attend will have their information listed on their site as to what placement testing you need. If you're attending Sinclair, their placement testing information can be found on this site; you'll need to call and schedule an appointment to test.
6. Once you have applied and completed placement testing, the college will let you know whether you were accepted. If you were accepted, they will send you information regarding registering for classes. Summer course registration for Sinclair opens on March 20. Fall course registration for Sinclair opens on April 10.
If you have any questions, please contact Miss Beres or Ms. Sercu.
