N. 4th Street Construction Update N. 4th Street Construction Update

Grand Forks Central Families,

Good news! North 4th Street, in front of GFC’s main door, will be open on Wednesday, October 1.

We will return to our “pre-road construction” practices for bus and parent drop off and pick-up, as well as guest access to the building. Please see details below:

BUS DROP OFF AND BOARDING:

  • The GFAFB BUS, MANVEL BUS, and VALLEY BUS (within the city of GF) will drop off in the morning and pick up after school at Door 1 on N. 4th Street - GFC’s main entrance.

  • Buses will use the south end of the block in front of Central for pick up after school. Parents cannot park in the bus pick up zone during bus pick up.

PARENT DROP OFF/ PICK UP OPTIONS:

  • BEFORE SCHOOL DROP OFF

    • Parents may drop students off at Door 1 (main door) on N. 4th Street or Door 14 (gym door) on N. 5th Street. Be aware that buses will also be dropping off at Door 1, arriving at intermittent times between 7:30am - 8:00am.

  • AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP - Parents may pick up at Door 14 (gym door) on N. 5th Street or Door 1 (main door) on N. 4th Street. Be aware that buses will also be picking up at Door 1 and an athletic bus will pick up students at Door 14. Buses have designated pick up areas on the south end of the block in front of GFC. Parents who park in bus parking will be asked to move or be ticketed.

OR

  • Plan to pick up your student at 3:05 (1:15pm on early release days) or later. Buses and cars have cleared out by this time and Door 1 and 14 will be much more accessible. Also, it may be easiest most days to have your student walk to your car parked on an adjacent street or block.

GFC GUEST & STUDENT DOOR ACCESS:

Beginning October 1, visitors to GFC will be able to access Door 1 on N. 4th Street. This will be the only door open to guests, as well as students arriving after 8am. Guest parking is available in the lot between GFC and GF City Hall (see signs).

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the reconstruction of N. 4th Street!

Family/Teacher Conferences Family/Teacher Conferences

  • Conferences will be face-to-face and are an open format where parents/guardians use their student's schedule to locate the teachers they would like to visit.
  • There is no sign up or assigned times. Teachers will meet with families on a first come-first served basis as they are able.
  • Student schedules will be available if your student is unable to attend or if you prefer to visit teachers without your student present.
  • If your family prefers a phone or zoom conference, please contact each teacher directly to set that meeting up.
  • Please enter using Door #1 (our Main Entrance) located on 115 N. 4th Street.

Lunch Applications Are Due Lunch Applications Are Due

Families who qualify for free/reduced meals must reapply each year. Last year's lunch status will expire on Oct. 9th. If there is no new application submitted prior to that date, student meals will be charged at the full rate. Lunch status is not retroactive, so any meals purchased at the full rate will be the responsibility of the family to pay those charges until the new application is processed. Families can reapply for free/reduced lunch by going to the MySchoolApps.com website.

MTSS at Grand Forks Central High School MTSS at Grand Forks Central High School

At Grand Forks Central, we believe that every student deserves the right support at the right time so they can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. That’s why we use a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) — a schoolwide approach.

Family Partnership: Families are an integral part of supporting students and are welcome to request additional support at any time. Any referrals for special education testing or 504 plans are coordinated through this process to make sure decisions are thoughtful, consistent, and collaborative.

Here’s how it works:

Our staff regularly reviews data such as grades, attendance, and behavior to identify students who may need extra help. The MTSS team — made up of counselors, administrators, and specialists — meets to discuss student needs, remove barriers, connect students to resources, and monitor progress and effectiveness over time.
