ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL--7:20 AM - 7:45 AM
Classroom instruction BEGINS at 7:45 AM. All students are strongly encouraged to be unpacked and in their classroom ready for learning at 7:40 AM.
ALL K-5 CAR RIDERS AND WALKERS WILL ENTER THROUGH THE 2 FRONT MAIN DOORS. **The back loop will be closed during arrival.
Parents can choose which drop-off loop to use based on what is most convenient for them.
The building opens for students at 7:20 AM. Dropping off students before 7:20 AM is not recommended due to no adult supervision provided.
Students arriving BEFORE 7:30 AM will go directly to the gym to wait in their grade level lines. Students who wish to eat breakfast will go straight to the cafe. At 7:30 AM all students will be dismissed to their classrooms.
Students arriving AFTER 7:30 AM will go directly to their classrooms unless they need to eat breakfast. Breakfast ends at 7:45 AM.
Teachers are unavailable for conferencing after 7:30 AM due to students in the classroom. Teachers may be reached from 7:20 AM-7:30 AM, during conference periods, after 3:15 PM, and welcome the opportunity of setting a time to visit regarding your student.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
DISMISSAL--3:05 PM - 3:20 PM
To help with dismissal traffic flow and alleviate congestion at nearby intersections, we will utilize a staggered dismissal system based on how your child goes home.
Car Rider Dismissal from the West Side (Colby) K-1 Loop & North Back 2-5 Loop begins at 3:05 PM.
The teachers on duty are responsible for monitoring and loading students into cars. Older students will meet with the YOUNGEST students/siblings for dismissal and dismiss at the YOUNGEST students/siblings' grade level dismissal location.
**Please be aware that staff members ARE NOT ALLOWED to buckle students into their car seats. We encourage parents to pull forward if they need to assist their child with their car seat.
Offsite Daycare and Bus Dismissal from the South Side (Sean) Bus Loop begins at 3:05 PM.
Daycare students waiting for their daycare bus will be walked to the POD 4 area by a staff member to wait for their designated daycare bus.
Walker's Dismissal from the gym begins at 3:15 PM.
ALL K-5 walking students will meet in the gym.
Students who are meeting up with siblings or walking partners will meet up with their walking group in the gym before being dismissed through the exterior gym door at 3:15 PM.
Parents who are waiting for their walker student must wait and meet up in front of the building outside the gym.
If your child has permission to walk home alone, please communicate this with your child’s teacher!
ALL STUDENTS & PARENTS MUST WALK ON THE SIDEWALKS AND CROSS WHERE THE CROSSING GUARD IS LOCATED.
NO PARKING DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM WALKER DISMISSAL LOCATION— PLEASE ADHERE TO THE NO PARKING AREAS ON THE STREET IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL–THIS IS TO ENSURE OUR BUSES CAN EXIT WITHOUT HITTING PARKED CARS!
Bikers/Walkers WILL NOT be sent home during SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH LIGHTNING until weather conditions improve. Bikers/Walkers WILL be sent home if it is RAINING WITHOUT LIGHTNING, so please ensure that your child has appropriate rain gear!
CHANGES TO DISMISSAL
If you need to make a change in your child's dismissal during the day, you must contact the office by 2:00 pm to inform them of the change, even if you email your child's teacher. Our day moves at a very fast pace and there's no guarantee that we will see the change in time. Contacting the front office will ensure that we get the message and know how your child is getting home. Thank you!
RAINY DAY DISMISSAL
On rainy days, 5th graders who go home by car will still be dismissed from by the 3-5 carpool line, however they will wait inside. It is very important that you have your child's car name tag visible so we can have your child ready to go when you pull through the lane. Several staff members will be waiting with umbrellas to escort your child to your vehicle. For parents whose child is normally a biker or walker and are picking up their child from the walker area and then walking to a parked car, please wait under the covered playground, and a staff member will get your child for you. We realize this procedure takes a little bit longer, and we appreciate your patience as we make sure all students are dismissed safely.
