Principal's Message
Dear NISL Families,
We are pleased to announce a revision to the uniform policy for girls in grades K-2nd. After thorough discussions and approval by the school board, we have made updates to provide more flexibility while maintaining the modest and Islamic principles we uphold.
What’s New?
- Hijab and Long Sleeves Optional: Girls in K-2nd grade may now wear short sleeves, and hijab is optional during regular school hours.
- Pants and Shirt Option: Girls may now wear pants with a fingertip-length shirt as part of their uniform.
- Prayer Attire: Since our school teaches and practices prayer starting in kindergarten, girls are still required to bring a prayer outfit or hijab along with a long-sleeve shirt or sweater to wear during prayer time.
These changes aim to provide comfort and ease for our youngest students while maintaining the importance of modesty and preparation for joining the full school body for prayer in 3rd grade.
We would like to also remind families we have a partnership with Verona Uniforms to provide families with modest and good quality uniform options. You can purchase uniforms at https://www.verona-uniforms.com/collections/nisl
We’ve attached the revised uniform policy for K-8th grade for your reference. Please review it carefully and ensure your child’s uniforms comply with the updated guidelines.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in nurturing a modest, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
Principal
