Broadmoor's Weekly Wildcat News!
October 4, 2026
Dear BES Families,
We have a super short week with school Monday thru Wednesday only! It is not too late to sign-up for conferences if you haven't yet. The directions are below!
This Wednesday, we are welcoming local author Angela Cervantes to BES! It is sure to be a great assembly! If your child has a book she has written, please send it to school this day and she will sign it for them!
Please make sure you are getting your child to school on time and every day! I am noticing a trend on Monday mornings or after late night practices/games. Below is a handy flyer with dates and times you can use to help schedule appointments and trips. For every day of missed school, your child misses instruction. It is not as simple as completing a worksheet anymore! Teachers tend to have to give up their time to reteach the lessons missed. Students have to give up their time to make up the instruction and show mastery of the skills they missed. Many of those skills their peers have already moved on from. Late work gets graded later and grades get put in later. The system is interrupted. Good work habits and attendance habits now, in the elementary years will make a huge impact as your child reaches middle school, high school, and the work force!
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you at conferences,
Cindy Apple, Principal

As we continue to prepare for the Veterans Day concert, please have your child practice at home using the link below:
I appreciate your help in encouraging your child to practice at home. Thank you for supporting our students as they prepare to honor our veterans!

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!

Share Your Child's Passion with Us!
Our students do some really cool things outside of school & we want to highlight and celebrate those passions, talents and strengths as we talk about the mindset 'Passion First' this month. Please send a photo of your child doing something they love! Photos will be displayed on the commons bulletin board through the month of October. Photos can be emailed to your teacher or to mcintires@usd416.org. Thank you!!
Hello, USD 416 Family and Friends!
Even though winter and the holidays may feel like they’re still a little ways away, they’ll be here before we know it! Our district social workers/counselors created a Winter & Holiday Resource Newsletter with information about local resources and ways to sign up for assistance with winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts.
We hope this resource helps families plan ahead and know where to turn if a little extra support would be helpful this season. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's building social worker/counselor if there is anything they can do to help!
Best Regards,
USD 416 Social Workers/Counselors
