Bell Schedule this week: ABCD
No School for Students on Friday, April 3rd
The last day of Quarter 3 is this Thursday, April 2nd. Teachers have a work day on Friday.
2026-27 School Calendar
The 2026-27 school year calendar has been approved by the school board and published on the district website. I have attached it below.
8th grade Parents - Photos please
It is a tradition at MMS for our Yearbook students to create a slideshow with pictures of our outgoing 8th graders that we show at our end-of-year assembly. The Yearbook students take their job very seriously and spend hours preparing the slideshow. They like to include a baby picture (or young toddler/child), and two other pictures for each 8th grader in the presentation.
This week some Yearbook students let me know that they have only received photos for 66 of our 165 eighth graders. I have been announcing reminders every morning, and promised to ask parents for help again.
The Deadline for submission is April 15.
Please send picture in with your student, or email photos to our Yearbook class advisor, Ms. Frederick. Her email address is frederickr@msd281.org. You can also bring those into our front office, if that is more convenient.
Mathletes
A quick shout-out to these Cubs right here that participated in the Math Counts! competition this year. Students from the area compete in a local competition to qualify for the state level event in Boise. Our Moscow team competed in Boise over Spring Break and placed 5th overall. Josh Potirniche placed 5th in the individual rankings. We are so proud of these "mathletes!"
We have a math club that meets during lunches, and an after-school club that meets after school. These students have been working all year to be ready for this competition and have demonstrated Perseverance, Dedication, and Excellence - three of our Cub PRIDE attributes - in abundance throughout. Go Cubs!
Arts Showcase and Fundraiser
We want to ensure that Moscow Middle School has a strong, vibrant, and sustainable Arts Program for many years to come. Help us make that happen. π
Sign-up for snacks for teachers
Parents - a few times a year, our amazing PST team organizes y'all to bring in snacks or desserts for amazing teachers that are working hard to get hundreds or assignments scored and grades done and submitted ready for report cards. Below is the sign up to bring something in for this upcoming teacher work day on Friday.
If you knew how much my teachers appreciated this...it would make you smile. It doesn't take much to make them feel a bit special - a box of granola bars, some home made cookies, a diet coke. Thank you to all of you who regularly sign up and drop stuff off for this.

ISATs
Reminder - ISAT's are like taxes...we gotta get 'em done every spring, whether we like it or not.
Science ISAT's for 8th graders - April 28th, 29th/30th during science classes
Math and ELA ISAT's for ALL students grades 6 - 8 May 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th in the mornings.
The ISAT calendar and special ISAT Class Schedule are attached below. Please let me know ASAP if your student will not be here on some or all of those days. We will need to make arrangements for them to take the ISAT tests at another time before the state deadline of May 22nd.
Hoop Fest and other activities
Moscow Parks and Rec is hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for kids of all ages, and adults. It looks like a lot of fun, and I know we have a lot of Cubs that might like to put together a team. See the flyer below for more details.
Our Women's Wrestling program is offering Open Mat times this spring starting on March 30th. Please see the flyer below for more information.
Guitar Grant
Good morning,
We are accepting applications for Round #2 of instrument grants (electric guitars and bass guitars) through the Graham Music Foundation Instrument Grant.
The student application packet can be found here.
The application window is open now through Wednesday, March 25, and the committee will review applications on Friday, March 27.
Please spread the word to any students in grades 6-12 who might be interested.
