Attendance Boundary Review

The Board of Trustees will be moving forward with an Attendance Boundary Review in the coming months. This review is intended to help Trustees receive public feedback and consideration about whether existing attendance boundaries, which were put in place at the time the school division was formed in 1995, are still effective, efficient and serving the school division well. A similar process was conducted earlier within the City of Camrose, to address attendance boundary concerns that existed at that time.

Four public meetings will take place. Each meeting will have the same agenda, so members of the public are able to attend whichever meeting best suits their schedule. All four meetings will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Monday, March 20: Ryley School

Tuesday, March 21: New Norway School - This meeting is the closest to our school.

Monday, April 3: Ecole Camrose Composite High School

Tuesday, April 4: Killam Public School

We encourage you to take time to attend one of these meetings. It will give you opportunity to hear what is on our School Board's minds regarding this issue, as well as give you opportunity to share your thoughts.

• Payments for all school fees are overdue. Please check your account and if you have an outstanding balance, please pay immediately. You can access your account by clicking the picture.

Please feel free to contact Dawna in the office between 8:30 - 1:00 Monday - Thursday if you have any questions, or if you would like to discuss your account.

• On days when buses do not run, classes are still in session and being taught. This is just an encouragement to parents to let you know your children are welcome!

• When your child is late or leaving early, all students must sign in or out at the office. This is for safety reasons, should we have to evacuate, we accurately know who is in the building. This includes all Grade 12 students.

• We ask this of all parents, as well. Even if you're just running your child in for class.

Please mark your calendars for the next School Council meeting on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00. You can attend in person, and a link will be sent out closer to the date to attend online. As a parent, these meetings are a great way to hear directly from our administrators and School Council. It provides you an opportunity to also give feedback.

Also - did you know - if you ever have any questions or concerns, both of our administrators are more than happy to schedule a time to meet with you. Please, never hesitate to reach out and call the school to arrange a time with Krysta Rathwell (Principal) and Shawna Johnson (Assistant Principal).

Hello BRSD families!

Students from across the world want to join us in Battle River School Division. Are you able to help welcome them?

We are seeking caring families to host students in their home during the 2023-2024 school year. International Student placements can range from one month to the full school year in duration, so you can choose an option that works for your family.

Right now, we have students who will be joining us from Germany, Belgium, Spain and other European countries, as well as from Asia and South America. Hosting an International Student can change their life for the better and will give your family the chance to learn more about other cultures and countries as well. Lifelong connections and friendships can be made.

There is a $700 per month stipend provided to help offset costs.
