A Bow to Our Cast and Crew🎭 A Bow to Our Cast and Crew🎭

What a spectacular weekend at BHMS! Our theater department had a great run of The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. It was a joy to see our students bring such wit, energy, and impeccable comedic timing to the stage.

A Standing Ovation for Our Leaders

This production would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of our faculty leaders.

  • Ms. Green (Fowler: A massive thank you for your vision, patience, and direction. Your ability to nurture the raw talent of our students into a cohesive, hilarious performance is nothing short of inspiring.

  • Mr. Gillham: Thank you for your vital contributions and support in ensuring the technical and creative elements of the show ran seamlessly.

Our Village of Support

Theater is truly a team sport, and the spirit of collaboration was on full display behind the scenes. We owe a debt of gratitude to:

  • Decatur Performs: Thank you for your continued advocacy and partnership in keeping the arts thriving within our school community.

  • Our Parent Volunteers: From managing costumes and props to handling concessions and ushering, your "behind-the-scenes" magic is what makes these memories possible for our children.

Watching our students take their final bows to a cheering audience was a proud moment for all of us. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the arts at BHMS—we are already looking forward to the next curtain call!

Molly Randall is CSD's 2026 Coach of the Year Molly Randall is CSD's 2026 Coach of the Year

Coach Molly Randall isn't just teaching I&S at BHMS, she is transforming the Decatur Swim & Dive program into a model of excellence, proving that a team can be both relentlessly competitive and deeply inclusive. As the program's head coach, she navigates the season with a signature blend of patience, grace, and professionalism. Under her leadership, the program hasn’t just grown in size; it has grown in character.

Coach Randall’s philosophy balances compassion with high expectations, fostering an environment where every athlete—from state qualifiers to beginners—feels valued. As Senior Tobias Hylen notes, she leads with a humanity that enables everyone to reach their greatest potential. Beyond the pool deck, her kindness and wisdom serve as a blueprint for leadership. We are proud to celebrate BHMS’s own Molly Randall as the City Schools of Decatur 2026 Coach of the Year, an award that reflects her commitment to excellence and the empathy she brings to both her classroom and the pool deck.

On Monday, April 27, a group of 45 sixth and seventh grade Adventure Quest students proudly represented Beacon Hill Middle School during the Atlanta City Nature Challenge 2026 in partnership with Wylde Center.

Students spent the day exploring local green spaces, observing wildlife, and documenting plants, insects, and other living organisms using community science tools. Through their teamwork and curiosity, our students contributed over 300 observations to this worldwide event—helping scientists and communities better understand and appreciate urban biodiversity.

This experience was an exciting opportunity for students to apply what they have been learning in class about environmental stewardship, observation skills, and the importance of connecting with nature. It was inspiring to watch students enthusiastically search for species, ask thoughtful questions, and realize that science can happen anywhere—even in the middle of a city.

We are incredibly grateful to Wylde Center, Fernbank Museum, and all event organizers for providing such a meaningful hands-on learning experience for our students.

We are proud of the way Beacon Hill students represented our school with energy, curiosity, and respect for the natural world! 🌎📸
