It was a great week at the Cardinal School! This week we want to highlight for you the importance of PreK attendance! We want to see your students in our school All day, Every Day! Attendance matters, even in PreK where good attendance is closely related to future school success. We work very hard to support your students and your families with consistent attendance. This year we actually won most improved specialty school attendance in the district! Our chronic absence rates are still very significant so the work continues!!! Each week, we meet to review attendance data and may reach out to you to find out how we can support your child's attendance.

Things are off to a smooth start this year at the Cardinal. It is so great to see all of the smiling little faces each day. Students are developing relationships with their teachers and with each other. They are learning routines and know what to expect throughout the day. This all happens when students come to school All Day Every Day. Good attendance in preschool builds the foundation for learning throughout their school career.

Our attendance team has begun weekly meetings as we keep a close eye on attendance all year. We work closely with families to support you in getting your child to school each day, on time. We try to identify barriers to good attendance and offer support and solutions. We will be starting to schedule attendance meetings with families who might be struggling. If you get an invitation, don't be alarmed, we just want to take a moment to meet with you and problem solve as a team. We miss your child when they are not here!

We will meet on Tuesday at 5:30 virtually. Please join us! We are still looking for parent representatives who would like to join us regularly and help us make decisions about our school. Please let me know if you would like to join!
