As the most comprehensive reporting system published by TEA, TPRS provides additional performance reports, results, and indicators for student groups not previously reported on state accountability data tables, the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), or the School Report Card. TPRS is the enhanced online version of TAPR. It has been recently updated with Remote vs. In-Person Data. TEAL Accountability application will show you unmasked data.

The TPRS Glossary provides definitions, describes methodologies, and lists sources for each tab in the TPRS system.

This Week in Performance Reporting Dec. 2

What’s New in Performance Reporting

A–F Accountability

As prescribed by Senate Bill (SB) 15, local education agencies (LEAs) may receive full average daily attendance (ADA) funding for students who attend local remote learning programs at any point during the 2022–23 school year if the remote instruction and the attending student meet certain statutory requirements.

The Student Listing for 2022–23 Local Remote Learning ADA Funding Eligibility in the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL) Accountability application is intended to help LEAs determine funding eligibility for students who may participate in a local remote learning program. The responsibility for making the final determination on a student’s eligibility for funding lies with the LEA. Attendance data is auditable.

If you have questions about the Student Listing for 2022–23 Local Remote Learning ADA Funding Eligibility, please reach out to Performance Reporting at (512) 463-9704 or performance.reporting@tea.texas.gov. If you have questions about local remote learning program requirements, please direct all questions to Remote.Learning@tea.texas.gov.

Local Accountability System

Winter/spring 2023 is the perfect time to explore the local accountability system and learn how your district can develop a plan using your existing priorities and data! Districts may choose to use the 2022–23 school year to develop a plan and collect baseline data for application to the 2023–24 school year. In some instances, a district may be able to develop and apply a plan to the 2022–23 school year.

Districts wishing to learn more about the local accountability system and how to develop a district local accountability plan can participate in a 45-minute overview webinar with time for Q & A. Webinars will resume in January 2023.

Happy Holidays!!!

Assessment Scoring and Reporting

Spring 2023 STAAR Alternate 2 Administration

As a reminder, any student who needs to take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) Alternate 2 must have the following fields set to “Yes” by January 6, 2023.

  • Special Ed Indicator Code

  • Alternate Student Flag: STAAR Alternate 2

In addition, the STAAR Alternate 2 EOC Eligibility field and the STAAR Alternate 2 Paper Format field (for large print) must be adjusted, as applicable.

System Updates

  • Update to TIDE Rosters

The roster export functionality within the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) has been updated to include a field for teacher email addresses under column E. This updated field may be used to verify correct associations between students and users, as rosters are used to provide teacher-level users with access to students’ scores in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS).

  • New Feature for Auto Text-to-speech

As requested by educators, a new feature will be available soon for students who use the auto text-to-speech (TTS) online accommodation. To allow students time to adjust to the new information on each screen, a countdown timer will be displayed to indicate that TTS will begin five seconds after the student navigates to a new passage or item.

Updates To The District And Campus Coordinator Resources

The training video How to Set Score Codes has been posted to the District and Campus Coordinator Resources. This video reviews score code options for each assessment in the Texas Assessment Program and how to set score codes manually, view set score code requests, and use the bulk upload feature. Training Updates

The Test Accommodation Training for Test Administrators is now available in the Learning Management System (LMS). This training reviews what testing accommodations are, the types of accommodations for state testing, some common accommodation errors, and how to avoid accommodation errors during testing.

Interim assessments are full-scope tests designed to be administered one to two times during the school year, depending on the content area. Interim assessments will include new item types that will appear on STAAR in Spring 2023, except for constructed response questions because they are not machine-scorable. Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR)

TFAR is a free, optional platform used by educators to create, administer, analyze, and share formative assessments. Teachers will be able to analyze the results of these formative assessments to help inform instructional choices such as making immediate lesson plan adjustments or providing specific interventions for students at the level of individual standards.

TFAR is meant to supplement and support existing LEA resources and formative assessment practices. Assessments created in TFAR should be combined with a broader set of classroom formative practices that are part of a coherent instructional framework.

Additionally, formative assessments from select, high quality instructional materials (HQIM) with an open education license will be available to administer through the same online test administration system as assessments created using TFAR. Assessments from math and RLA curricula, grades K-5, will be prioritized, and other, select curricula’s assessments will be released on a rolling basis. More information about which HQIM products’ tests will be available in the online system and the release dates of these tests will be available in the fall.

Redesign of TELPAS Reading and Writing

Based on input from educators, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) reading and writing domains will be combined in an online test for students in grades 2–12 this year.

Because of this new standardized version of a writing assessment, districts will no longer need to holistically rate writing samples for students in grades 2–12.

Students in kindergarten and grade 1 will continue to be holistically rated in all four language domains—listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

❓ What is the process for submitting SAT and ACT reimbursements?

There is a verification process in TEAL for the SAT and ACT college preparation assessment reimbursements. This verification process has occurred in November/December in the past.

Here is past TEA communication:

TEA will release the ACT/SAT testing data to districts in TEAL for districts to review, verify and submit for reimbursement. The person responsible for this project must have Accountability-level access in TEAL. Only the Superintendent can grant this level of access in TEAL.

In the TEAL application, districts will need to review the following four categories:

  • School Day – Matched: This link is an Excel file that districts may download, review and keep for record-retention. TEA assumes that if a student tested in the school day environment, the district paid for the cost of the exam at the state-negotiated rate and is eligible for reimbursement. *

    • *Since the School Day – Matched students are automatically considered for reimbursement, districts whose students did take a school day assessment but did not pay for their students must opt out. This is not needed for districts that want to be reimbursed for national day students.

  • National Day – Matched: This link provides access to an application where districts SELECT the students for whom the district paid and who tested on a national testing day. Districts must ADD the 10-Digit Student ID. To be eligible for reimbursement, districts must identify students and verify the district paid for the cost of the exam.
  • School Day/National Day – Unmatched: This link provides access to an application where districts SELECT the students for whom the district paid and who tested on a national or school testing day. Districts must ADD the 10-Digit Student ID. To be eligible for reimbursement, districts must identify students and verify the district paid for the cost of the exam.
  • Not Represented: Any student for whom the district paid for an assessment and is not found in any of the above categories. The district will have the opportunity to submit the student for a reimbursement request while the TEAL application is open.

Industry-Based Certifications

Industry-based certifications are a valuable component of strong student pathways.
