Ott's Outlook

June 2019

As I complete my first year of superintendency, I reflect with mixed emotions. On one hand, I am proud to have been part of something so special. This school year has been marked by many student and staff successes. On the other hand, I will truly miss our staff for a few months while they get their much needed rest; and I will also miss our students, especially the seniors that will never walk our halls as students again. I truly enjoy being around our students!

I know that many news outlets often paint our future as bleak and troubled, but the advantage of being a public educator is that you see a completely different narrative. I see our future every day, and from my perspective am more confident and optimistic in those that will cross the stage than ever before. Our future lies in great hands and limitless potential.

As far as the summer, our district staff will be preparing a budget, hiring new staff, completing facilities projects, training staff and procuring resources for the 2019-2020 school year. In short, I will be around if you need anything. Once again, I am thankful for each of you and look forward to our continued partnership.

We had our first ever Fine Arts Signing Day at THS in May. This was a great event and will be a new tradition for us!
18 graduating seniors have accepted offers from colleges and universities across the country to pursue Fine Arts degrees.
398 IB exams were taken by Juniors and Seniors @ THS this year.
13 students earned their Associates Degree from Temple College through the Texas Bioscience Institute before they even graduated from high school!
50+ students have taken industry level certifications through our CTE programs this year.
26 students have committed to continue their athletic and educational careers at the next level.
