Cold Spring Elementary Update

A Picture-Perfect Week of Kindness
Picture Retake Day – Monday, October 27
Picture retakes are coming up this Monday. If you would like your child to have their photo retaken, please let their teacher know. There’s no need to sign up or fill out any additional forms—just send them to school ready for their picture.
Bullying Prevention Week – October 27–31
Next week we will recognize Bullying Prevention Week, a time to focus on kindness, respect, and inclusion. Throughout the week, students will take part in discussions and activities that encourage them to be upstanders—people who speak up and support others when they see unkind behavior.
We’ll also celebrate with themed dress-up days to help students show their school spirit and commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. The daily themes can be found in the image below. Together, we can help every student at Cold Spring Elementary feel safe, supported, and valued, because kindness starts with us.
Quick Reminder
Please remember that students should not wear Halloween costumes to school. Those who would like to participate in dressing up are encouraged to wear pajamas for Pajama Day instead. This helps keep our focus on learning while making sure costumes stay in good condition for trick-or-treating!
Your Principal,
Jim Mitteness
What’s one way you encourage kindness at home?
Students of the Week!
What is a Student of the Week?
At Cold Spring Elementary, our Student of the Week program is an important part of our PBIS framework and the Spartan Way: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Each week, one student in every grade (K–5) is recognized for consistently demonstrating these values. Winners are celebrated with an announcement over the intercom and get to choose from a fun menu of prizes, such as having lunch with a staff member or writing with a special pen. By highlighting positive choices and celebrating students who model the Spartan Way, we encourage all learners to see the impact of kindness, respect, and responsibility in their daily actions. This focus on the positives helps build a supportive, motivating school culture where every child feels valued and inspired to do their best.
Congratulations to our Students of the Week!
