Green Lake School District
November Newsletter
Welcome, November!
It’s hard to believe we’re already settled into the rhythm of the school year! October was full of fun and school spirit. Our students proudly sported their Brewers colors and cheered each other on in spirit challenges across every grade. And what a joy our book character parade was! We loved seeing so many creative, heartfelt costumes come to life. Thank you to all the families who helped make it so special.
As the days grow shorter and we find ourselves spending more time indoors, we invite you to curl up and read together. Maybe your child reads to you, maybe you read to them, or maybe, with older kids, you share and talk about something one of you is reading. However it looks in your home, those moments of connection matter so much. Treasure them, because this time truly goes by so fast!
From all of us here, we wish you a wonderful November filled with family traditions, cozy moments, and plenty to be grateful for. We’re so thankful for each of you!
Katie James

Growing Gratitude
November is a wonderful time to think about gratitude and the people and things we are thankful for. As the elementary school counselor, I have a lot to be grateful for! I am thankful for our students who make me smile, our families who support them, and our staff who care so much about our Lakers each day.
Gratitude is also something we can help children practice. It does not mean that every day has to be perfect or that we cannot have hard feelings. It simply means taking time to notice the good things, even on difficult days.
One simple way to practice gratitude as a family is to ask, “What is one good thing from your day?” You can try it at dinner, in the car, or before bed. Adults can share their answers too! It might be something big, but it can also be something as simple as a friend making you laugh, enjoying your favorite lunch, or someone helping you when you needed it.
The more we help children notice these small moments, the more we help them build a habit of looking for the good around them.
I am very thankful to be part of our Green Lake school community and to have the opportunity to support our students and families. I hope you have a wonderful November!

Start Planning College Visits During Junior Year!
Junior year is a great time for students and families to begin exploring college and career options! Visiting campuses is one of the best ways to learn about a school and decide if it might be a good fit. Encourage your student to start scheduling campus tours, attending open houses, and exploring different types of colleges and technical schools. Visiting a variety of campuses can help students compare their options, ask questions, and begin thinking about life after high school.
There will also be an opportunity coming soon for juniors and their parents to meet individually with Mrs. Daun. These meetings will help students and families review plans, discuss next steps, and make sure students are on track for a successful transition after high school. More information will be shared soon!
CLASS OF 2027
Scholarship Information
Seniors, as you begin finding scholarships that interest you, now is a good time to start keeping track of the scholarship name, deadline, requirements, and materials you will need to apply. Consider setting a goal to identify two or three scholarships that are a good fit for you and your future plans.
A little organization now can make scholarship applications much easier later in the school year!
More scholarship information, including our Green Lake local scholarship opportunities, will be coming in January!
