Glenn School Eagle Post
May 2026
Superintendent's Nest
Spring has arrived! Welcome to May, one of the most beautiful months of the year!
I would like to congratulate the Outstanding People for Education winners this year. Kevin Poolman, our school board president, who has served on our board for 4 years now. Tony Marr, a local farmer/ community member, who donated his time, equipment, supplies and manpower to complete our new playground area. I also am the recipient of this award this year. They received a certificate and were honored at a recognition dinner in Allegan at the end of April along with the other winners from other Allegan County school districts. Congratulations also are in order for our other nominees: Barb Null, Jenna Stivers and Angela Parkhill.
May 4th- 8th is National Teacher Appreciation week. At Glenn School, we take this time to appreciate all the staff members who help sustain this 172-year-old, oldest continuously operating rural school in Michigan! We will recognize the staff members in different ways each day throughout the week in coordination with the PTC.
We will once again be hosting a community CPR/First Aid class on Tuesday, May 19th at 5:30 pm in the multi-purpose room for $25.00. This is through the American Heart Association Heartsaver program. We will offer a FREE dinner and childcare during the training. Please RSVP by May 15th to jamie.walle@glenn.school or 269-512-7977.
Our Giving Tree this month will be accepting donations of cereal to donate to Ladders of Hope Food Pantry in Fennville while working with Allegan County Community Foundation to raise funds to purchase cereal for other food pantries in Allegan County. Feel free to drop off cereal all month long for The Giving Tree, drop off Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Our school will soon have a new green bin at the end of the driveway near the road from Clothes Bins of Michigan. People will be able to donate used clothing and shoes in this bin all throughout the year. We will then receive $.07 per pound of donated items. This money earned will help fund our Glenn School Scholarship for graduating seniors. This will help keep clothing and shoes out of landfills while having a convenient drop-off location.
Sincerely,
Jamie Walle
