Dear William Tennent Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at William Tennent High School! As we prepare to open our doors once again, there is a renewed sense of excitement and optimism in the air. A new school year always brings the promise of fresh starts, new opportunities, and untapped potential. Whether your child is just beginning their high school journey or entering their final year with us, we believe that starting strong is the key to finishing strong, and we’re ready to make this year our best one yet.

We are thrilled to welcome nine new teachers to William Tennent High School this year! Through an extensive interview process, these educators have shown themselves to be highly qualified, passionate, and eager to contribute to the vibrant culture of our school. They are excited to join the Panther family and ready to bring fresh ideas, high expectations, and a deep commitment to student success. We have several plans in place to introduce these amazing new staff members to our students and families, both in the days leading up to the school year and during the first few weeks. Keep your eyes open, we can’t wait for you to meet them!

Another exciting development over the summer is the creation of a brand-new position focused entirely on helping our students dream big and plan ahead. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sarah Babins, who will serve as William Tennent High School’s College & Career Counselor. In this expanded role, Dr. Babins will continue her important work with English Language Learners and Gifted students, while also leading our efforts in the college application process, career exploration, scholarship opportunities, and postsecondary transition planning. She will be based in our newly established College and Career Center, located behind the 12th-grade principal’s office. This dedicated space will be a valuable resource for students and their families, marking a strong start to our focus on future readiness.

We’re also excited to welcome Mrs. Kylene Wood to our administrative team as the new 9th Grade House Principal. Mrs. Wood brings a student-first mindset, a wealth of instructional leadership experience, and a deep commitment to building inclusive and supportive school environments. Throughout her career, she has led collaborative teaching teams, created academic interventions, and championed positive school culture through family-centered events and PBIS initiatives. Her innovative communication strategies, like bilingual newsletters, will help ensure that all families feel informed, involved, and valued. We are eager for students and families to meet Mrs. Wood and see her passion for education in action!

In our ongoing effort to create a secure and efficient learning environment, we are excited to launch SmartPass, a digital hall pass system that will replace traditional paper passes this year. SmartPass will be accessed via student devices and offers a modern solution that improves accountability, minimizes classroom disruptions, and strengthens instructional time. It includes helpful features like time tracking and pass limits to encourage personal responsibility. We encourage families to visit www.smartpass.app to learn more and start a conversation at home about this important shift.

This year, we’re launching a new way for families to stay connected, make an impact, and help shape the culture of our school community. Introducing the William Tennent Panther Partnership, a modern and flexible take on the traditional Parent-Teacher Organization. The Panther Partnership is designed to bring families, teachers, and administrators together to celebrate Panther Pride, support school-wide events, and collaborate on ideas that strengthen our school. No formal roles, no pressure, just meaningful engagement, when and how it works best for you.

Our first meeting will take place on Monday, August 18th, at 6:30 PM in the WTHS Library. We’ll introduce the purpose of the group, outline upcoming opportunities, and begin building a space for partnership and shared success. Meetings will continue on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM. Come when you can; every voice matters, and your perspective is always welcome.

Schedules for the 2025–2026 school year will be available in Skyward on Monday, August 18, 2025. At that time, families will also be able to begin the annual update process, which includes completing required paperwork and submitting the technology insurance fee for the upcoming school year. Student schedules will be accessible in Skyward once all forms have been completed and the fee has been submitted. Please be sure to log in and complete these steps to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

The beginning of a new school year is like the first chapter of a powerful story. With the right mindset, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to excellence, we can ensure this year is filled with growth, connection, and celebration. At William Tennent High School, we believe in starting strong, because when we start strong, we finish strong.

We are grateful for your continued partnership and can’t wait to see our students thrive in the year ahead. Here's to new beginnings and another incredible year as proud Panthers!
