π The Roots of Doris Hoffman
This week at Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center, we continue nurturing the roots of patience as our Little Indians grow in their ability to handle everyday moments with increasing independence and understanding.
Patience at this age often looks like progress, not perfection. It may be a child taking a deep breath instead of reacting right away, waiting just a little longer for a turn, or trying again after something doesnβt go as planned. These are meaningful steps, and we celebrate each one.
Throughout our classrooms, children are practicing patience during play, learning to share materials, listening to their friends, and working through challenges with support from caring adults. Our teachers continue to model calm, steady responses, helping children understand that itβs okay to take their time and that mistakes are part of learning.
At home, you might notice your child showing small signs of this growth β pausing before reacting, using words to express frustration, or showing kindness and understanding toward others. These moments are powerful and worth celebrating.
Together, we are building a strong foundation that will support our children not just in school, but in life β one patient moment at a time.
π Rooted in Heart, Driven by Purpose.

π Staff Appreciation Week
Staff appreciation week is May 4th-8th, and we need your help to celebrate the amazing staff that care for your awesome kiddos each day! If you would like to donate treats for Tuesday, please send them to the office by Monday, May 4th. If you choose to send items in on the other days, please label the item with whom it should be given to. We appreciate you helping us celebrate the wonderful staff at Doris Hoffman.
π€Character Corner
This week, our Little Indians are continuing to build patience as they learn to pause, problem-solve, and work through challenges with growing confidence.
In the classroom, patience is showing up in thoughtful ways β children are taking turns in conversations, waiting with greater independence during routines, and using words to express their feelings when something doesnβt go their way. These small but meaningful moments help children develop self-control and understand that not everything happens right away.
You can help strengthen patience at home by:
β Practicing βwait timeβ β encourage your child to wait a few moments before receiving a snack or toy
π Reading a story together and asking your child to listen until the end before talking about it
π§ Modeling patience by thinking out loud: βIβm feeling frustrated, but Iβm going to take a deep breath and try againβ
As children continue to practice patience, they are building skills that support learning, friendships, and emotional growth.
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to grow strong hearts and strong character in our Little Indians. π

π Final Note...
As we wrap up another great week at Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center, we continue to be so proud of the growth we see in our Little Indians each day. Our focus on patience is shining through in so many ways β from children taking turns more independently to working through challenges with growing confidence.
This time of year brings lots of excitement as we look ahead to end-of-year events, celebrations, and transitions. With that excitement also comes opportunities for children to practice patience, flexibility, and self-control. Your support at home in reinforcing these skills makes such a meaningful difference.
As we move forward, we are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families. Together, we are helping our children build the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.
Wishing your family a wonderful week ahead! π

With gratitude,
Mrs. Amy Huson
