Caramel Apples Made Especially by the Sixth Grade
Each year, sixth grade carries on the tradition of caramel apple making. Our school board member, Joline Dixon, works together with Mrs. Hodgson to support all of the students in their caramel apple making adventure. The students use their profits to help support their graduation ceremony!
Fifth Grade Legends of Sleepy Hollow
Fifth graders put on a legendary performance of Sleepy Hollow. They invited fourth grade, had costumes and props, and practiced for weeks to put on a performance to remember. Great job, fifth grade!
Fourth Grade at the Spokane Symphony
On Wednesday, our fourth grade class went to Spokane to see the symphony. But....it wasn't just a symphony trip. Miss Haines planned, according to one of her students, "the best field trip ever!" We started in Riverfront Park. We played on the two playgrounds, fed the garbage goat, slid down the red wagon, and rode the carousel. It was a little rainy and cool, but the kids had so much fun. After the park, we walked a few blocks to the beautiful Fox Theater. We took in an hour long symphony experience that included learning about instruments and listening to lively music. Finally, the trip ended with a quick stop at McDonalds for an ice cream cone. What a day! What a trip!
Ford Hatchery Spawning Field Trip
On Monday, our fifth and sixth graders traveled to Ford Hatchery to check out how the hatchery does its annual spawning. Students saw the fertilization and triploid process, the brood stock for Brook and Brown Trout, and they fed some big Rainbow Trout.
Pumpkin Judging
We had a few pumpkin contests this week! Our local fire fighters had a competition amongst shifts. They brought their creations to the school for the students to judge. They will also be at the trunk or treat. We have some pretty creative fire fighters! Additionally, the students in our resource room had a competition. They had three categories, scariest, most creative, and funniest. Students worked hard on their pumpkin creations!
Kindergarten Book Gets Statewide Attention
This year's first graders wrote a book in kindergarten with Mrs. Murphey. The book is pictured above. This year, during the WSIPC Statewide Leadership Team meeting, the book got attention. WSIPC is a non-profit public agency cooperative in Washington state that provides technology solutions and operational services (like grading, attendance, and discipline documentation) to K-12 public and private schools. The book fit with WSIPC's theme of how we know what our next steps are. It was useful to know where we’ve been and that the next step is dependent on the past. Good job first graders and Mrs. Murphey! And thanks to Natalie Colliver and the WSIPC team for allowing our students to guide your work!
CPO Harvest Carnival
Thank you, Loon Lake CPO, for putting on a wonderful family Harvest Carnival. Students played games, won prizes, and hung out with their families. It was a great time!
