Explorer Wednesday Briefing

Dear Chloe Clark Families,

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! We are so excited to see our students back in the halls and to meet new friends joining our school community. We look forward to a year full of learning, growth, laughter, and—most importantly—fun!

· Success Conferences
We invite you to sign up for your child’s Success Conference with their teacher. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, share insights about your child’s learning, and help us partner together for a successful year.

· Scavenger Hunt Fun
Before or after your conference, plan to spend some extra time exploring our school with our Scavenger Hunt! It’s a fun way for students to become familiar with their classrooms, the library, playground, and all the special spots around our building.

· School Supplies
Feel free to bring your child’s school supplies to the conference. Missing something? We will also have free school supplies available for students, including crayons, markers, pencils, pencil boxes, and more.

· Arrival and Dismissal

Also, please take a few minutes to watch the video, 'Arrival and Dismissal'. Teachers will be viewing it with students this week and we want you to join us so you are informed of the important information on arrival routines, bus expectations, early dismissal, etc.

We are thrilled to partner with you this year and can’t wait to make 2025-26 a year full of joy, growth, and great memories.

• Our FIRST ACE DAY is next Wednesday, September 3rd - Students are released at 2:35 pm with buses arriving at their stops one hour earlier than normal.

• If you have not already signed the Family & Student Handbook form please do so by September 30th. You can find the Handbook on our website: https://www.steilacoom.k12.wa.us/for-families/handbook. The form to sign takes one minute and was sent to families through Parent Square.

• Make sure to fill out our volunteer application if you would like to help out in the classroom, on field trips, or for our PTA recess takeovers. The application can be found by going to https://www.helpcounterweb.com/welcome/apply.php?district=steilacoom. Once the application has been filled out and approved it is good for two years.

Dear Chloe Clark Families,

My name is Kyra Miller, and I’m so excited to introduce myself as the new School Counselor at Chloe Clark Elementary, home of the Explorers!

It’s truly an honor to join such a warm and welcoming school community. As your school counselor, I’m here to support all students in their academic, social, and emotional development. Whether it’s building friendships skills, solving problems, or developing resilience and skills for success, I’ll be working closely with students, teachers, and families to ensure that every Explorer feels supported and valued.

Throughout the school year, I’ll be visiting classrooms, leading small groups, and meeting individually with students as needed. I also look forward to partnering with families and the community.

Strong family-school connections are so important, and I look forward to building those relationships with each of you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or just want to say hello — I’d love to hear from you!

Let’s work together to make this school year one filled with growth, discovery, and lots of Explorer spirit. I can’t wait to meet you and your amazing students!
