SHS/PGS Principal's Newsletter
April 2026 Edition
Principal's Message:
Spring has arrived with the days getting sunnier and longer. I am hoping that families will be able to have some fun and relaxation over Spring Break.
When students return from Spring Break they will be gearing up for the upcoming SBA and WCAS testing. These tests are used to measure a student’s understanding of content at a specific moment in time. The tests are not something that students should be worried about but view them as an opportunity to demonstrate what learnings they have gained from our programs. The results of the testing also help our programs develop curriculum to increase student learning.
To help students and families prepare for testing, we will be doing some practice tests in Advisory class and in content classes to assist students in understanding the types of questions they will experience during the actual tests. Please remind your child that they are only asked to give their best effort on the test and not fixate on the scores.
Below is the schedule for the upcoming test times.
Thank you for your continual support of our programs.
With gratitude,
Jack L. Roy
Principal

Kinder Writing Workshop this Past Month!
Core Value Champion for Integrity
Congratulations to Audrey Boucock!
Each month an Everett Public Schools student can be nominated by their teacher who demonstrates the Core Value of the Month. The nominations are sent to Administration where students are selected to be recognized as a Core Value Champion.
Mrs. Johnson nominated Audrey for exemplifying the Core Value of the Month for Integrity. Here's what she wrote about Audrey...
"Audrey strives to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. She is honest, responsible, and keeps her promises, which builds trust with others. Audrey's strong moral principles help her make decisions to do what is right, rather than just doing what is easy. Her life habits are an example to her peers as she assumes the best, acts in good faith, and serves those around her. Integrity is a valuable life skill that will take Audrey far!"
Congratulations Audrey!

Walk FITT, HS Online Options Health Class Log Pics taken by Students
Course Descriptions:
In Walk FITT 1, students will experience an increase in cardiorespiratory endurance, core strength, and stamina. These life-changing results will occur over a 12-week period of logging daily steps based on a personalized fitness plan which includes body weight movements to help facilitate a comprehensive approach to walking/step fitness along with a weekly increase in steps. Each student will be expected to track steps using their iPhone or Android step app of choice. Weekly log submissions along with Canvas module assignments are required.
In Walk FITT 2, students will develop a personalized fitness plan based on the number of steps they take a day, focused on their personal goals and log activity for 12 weeks. But before they do that, students will dive into the mechanics of muscles and flexibility. Additionally, students will work together with a group online to complete an ongoing project. This course will challenge students to improve their walk fitness. Tracking steps with a pedometer, weekly and consistent logging is required.
