Moment of Silence Moment of Silence

In accordance with a new Idaho state law, all TFSD schools will implement a 60-second moment of silence at the start of each school day. In alignment with this legislation, classroom teachers will not provide instruction or guidance regarding the purpose or use of this time. We ask that parents and caregivers take the lead in having conversations with their children about how your family would like them to utilize this quiet moment to prepare for the school day.

Supervision on the playground starts at 7:35 am. We will have 2-3 staff members outside to help students on the playground or blacktop until school starts.

Parents and families, we ask that you stay on the sidewalks and not directly on the playground in the morning when walking students to class or picking up after school (for example, Kindergarten).

As a general rule, we would ask that parents are not on the playground before school and after school. Often times, students are out at recess until shortly before the end of the day bell rings. For safety reasons, we ask parents to wait at the fence on Castleford for student pick up.

Please make sure your child arrives after 7:35 am. Students can enter the building through the back doors (by the blacktop) at 7:35 am to have breakfast in the cafeteria. They must arrive by 7:50 am to receive breakfast.

All parent drop-offs must occur on Castleford St before the start of school. Students should not be dropped in the office before the start of school.

Please be courteous to other families by keeping the section of Castleford between 3rd Ave N and 2nd Ave N reserved for parents who are dropping off their children and leaving. This area is intended for quick drop-offs and is not for long-term parking.

If you arrive after 8:05 a.m. and your child will be tardy, please park and sign your child in at the front office.

September Lunch Menu

During lunch, bags of candy, chips, and other additional food items are not permitted for students eating a school lunch. These items make it difficult for students to safely carry their lunch trays and

can create congestion when students are finished eating and trying to find a place to dispose of

unfinished food or containers. Students who bring a home lunch may include reasonable portions of snack items as part of their meal.

Volunteers Volunteers

We love welcoming parents and community members into our school community and deeply appreciate your willingness to share your time and talents with our students and staff! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to the office or your student's teacher. To help us ensure a smooth and secure environment, all volunteers simply need to complete a quick background check online through the district website, and remember to stop by the office for a visitor sticker each time you arrive.

As a gentle note to keep our classrooms focused and learning environments distraction-free, while also ensuring the safety of your youngest little ones, we kindly ask that preschool-aged children stay home during your volunteer shifts. Thank you so much for your partnership in making our school a wonderful place to learn and grow!

How Sick is Too Sick How Sick is Too Sick

In general, children are too sick to come to school when:

  • They are contagious.
  • Their symptoms are serious enough to prevent them from focusing on the tasks they need to do there.

Use the checklist below to determine whether to keep your child home from school.

  • Does your child have a fever of 100 or higher?
  • Has your child vomited two or more times in the last 24 hours?
  • Does your child have diarrhea?
  • Are your child’s eyes crusty, bright red, and/or discharging yellow or green fluid?
  • If your child complains of a sore throat, is it accompanied by fever, headache, stomachache,or swollen glands?
  • If your child complains of a stomach ache, is it accompanied by fever, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, sharp pain, and/or hard belly? Does your child have a persistent, phlegmy cough?
  • Does your child have a serious rash?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions, please keep your child home and consider contacting your healthcare provider, as your child may have a serious or contagious illness. Do not send your child to school until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours or a doctor has cleared them to return. If your child has a rash, it could be contagious, please seek medical advice before sending them to school.

Mild symptoms such as a cold, headache, or stomach ache (without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea) usually do not require staying home. Earaches are not contagious, and children should attend school.
