A Message from Mr. Dolce
Hello South Davis Families.
The weather this weekend was variable but still allowed for some much needed rest as well as outdoor work and connecting with family. Once again, the Memorial Day ceremony at the Orchard Park Veterans Park was well done, helping the community reflect on the meaning of the holiday and the importance of the shared sacrifice of our service women and men. Thanks to all in the South Davis family who have answered to call to serve.
Thanks for everyone who came out for our spring Bike and Walk to School event last Wednesday. It was another great success!
Have a great week!
Mr. Dolce

Field Day Update
Kindergarten-2nd grades will be outside from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
3rd-5th grades will be outside from 12:40-2:40 p.m.
A map, parent participation games (with directions), and station numbers where each class will start are included below.
- Every station will be numbered with either a GREEN or RED number.
- If the station sign has a green number (Go!) that means it is a parent/grandparent/relative/guardian station.
- If the station sign has a red number (Stop!) that means you will just watch the class participate in that activity.
Field Day Spectator/Participant Registration Process
- Pre-registered guests will have priority.
- Complete this form for every adult visitor who will be attending Field Days.
- You can complete the form on behalf of a family member/other adult who will be attending.
- You will be asked for the name and teacher of every child connected with each visitor.
- If a visitor does not pre-register, the check-in process may take longer the day of the event.
Check-in Process on Field Day
- For the morning session (grades K-2), check-in will begin at 8:45; for the afternoon session (grades 3-5), we will start check-in at 12:10.
- If a guest will be attending both sessions, only one check-in is needed.
- Come to the table at the Main Entrance. Guests will be organized alphabetically.
- Present your government-issued photo identification to a staff member.
- Receive your wristband, which should be worn and visible at all times. If a guest will be attending both sessions, keep the wristband for the entire time on the campus.
- Walk to the back fields and get settled for the fun!
Dismissal From the Afternoon Session
- If your child(ren) will be leaving with you at the conclusion of the afternoon session (Grades 3-5), you will be able to sign out with the classroom teacher.
- If there is a sibling in grades PK-2 that will also be leaving early, please enter that in the Parent Portal. Early Dismissal requests at 2:40 will not be possible, due to the volume of students involved.
Please allow plenty of time to park (nearby street parking is probably your best bet) and get checked in before Field Day starts. Car pooling, walking, and bicycling are encouraged!
A map with suggestions of alternative places to park is attached. As you consider parking on Thorn Ave., South Lincoln Street, Bank Street, W. Highland Ave. or Agyle Pl., please be mindful of any parking restrictions.
If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact us here.
As shared in previous communication, we are going to be using a new app to help get visitors checked into the building more efficiently.
If you want to give the new Event Registration app a try, please download the Raptor Safe App from Google or Apple.
South Davis Art Show and PTO Ice Cream Social
Join us for Art Night/Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.! Over the past month, every student has been creating something special to share. There is so much talent in our building.
The South Davis PTO will be serving ice cream while visitors take a break from enjoying the MASTERPIECES. We are looking for volunteers to help serve and for hallway helpers to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
If you can give us a bit of your time!

Instructional Focus
As your child's first teacher, you know your son or daughter best. If you would like to tell us about your child’s learning style, strengths, challenges, or any other information that may help us create an optimal learning environment for the upcoming school year, we welcome your input. What characteristics, traits, or attributes are beneficial to your child?
If you are interested, you can use this form to give us your insights about your child, to help us place him or her in the best environment possible, to reach his or her full potential. It is completely optional, and is available until June 3.
Updates and Reminders
End of Day Pick-Up Reminders
- Pre-K parents walk their children to and from the school. As a result, they need to park on South Davis Street. At the end of the day, if they are also picking up an older child, they may have to wait a bit longer.
- If you are meeting your child on the sidewalk in front of the school, please mark your child a walker in the Parent Portal.
- If you walked or biked to the building, that's great!
- If you drove - and you are not a Pre-K parent - please be sure to park on the west side of South Davis Street (opposite side from the school), and use the crosswalk to and from the pick up area.
- The curbside pick-up area should not be used for walkers. If you are getting out of your vehicle and you are not a Pre-K parent, please park on the other side of the street, or pull past the middle driveway to keep the pick-up zone clear.
- If you are providing your tag #, then your child is a "pick-up" and you should stay in your vehicle at the curb.
As always, these are in place for the safety of all involved, and to ensure an efficient drop-off and dismissal process.

Connecting With Our Community
South Davis Spring Food Drive
We won't be having the Fill the Cruiser event...it will be Fill the MRAP! 😳
A flyer will be coming soon, but here’s a quick heads-up on the requested items by grade level: As a reminder, the donations fill the Blessing Box at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Support is available to anyone in our community.
Family & Community Day
We’re excited to share a new short video to help you introduce and promote the Family & Community Day of the 2026 Hope and Healing Conference of Western New York with the individuals and families you serve. Watch and share the video here: https://youtu.be/vbR85-EnGyM.
Family & Community Day, Camp Hope: Where Stories Grow, will take place on Saturday June 6, at SUNY Fredonia’s Williams Center. This FREE event is designed for families, caregivers, youth, and community members and offers connection, resources, and practical tools related to mental health, substance use prevention, recovery, and overall wellness. We encourage you to share this video directly with clients, families, and your networks to help increase awareness and participation.
To make it easy to attend, registration for the Free Family Access Pass includes questions about transportation needs and dietary considerations to support accessibility for all participants. We also have Community Day posters available with a QR code for simple registration. If you would like posters for your office or program space, please get in touch with Prevention Works at 716-664-3608.
Spring Clean Out!
We are gearing up for our annual Spring Clean Out!
As this is a district-wide initiative, we encourage everyone to participate in the effort. Donations can be dropped off at any time at the Powers Road location in the bin located behind Busy Bee Hall, where the clothing closet is housed.
