Month of the Military Child

Month of the Military Child is celebrated each April to honor and celebrate military child for their service, commitment, and sacrifice. Monday, April 14 was Purple Up for Military Kids where students and staff wore purple to show their support. The color purple was chosen and symbolizes all branches of the military, it is a combination of Army Green. Marine Corps scarlet, and Coast Guard, Air Force, and Navy Blue.

We also did a pop up where students were given the opportunity to write an encouraging message on a purple heart to a student whose parents are currently serving in the Military.

Child Abuse Awareness Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, a time to raise awareness and promote prevention efforts against child abuse and neglect. It is a time that we highlight the importance of creating safe and nurturing environments for children. As a way to promote the awareness, all classes were given a cardboard kid to decorate and display. We also did a pop up where students were able to reflect on things they enjoyed doing as a child.

Students who are going to college, university, technical school, or the military were celebrated with a campus parade. Representatives from the organizations that students plan to attend next year were invited to participate as well giving them the opportunity to meet with students.
