Welcome to StM Faith Formation 2025-2026

Dear Faith Formation Families,

We are very excited to begin another glorious faith formation year this Sunday. Please see the information below regarding Open House for in-person classes and Orientation for those in the Family Faith at Home program. Class assignments were sent out this week, if you have any questions about this please contact your child's program coordinator.

Our Youth Group (featured photo) kicked off their year with a youth Mass and dinner to celebrate the canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. Thank you to all the parents and families that join in and helped with this fun event.

We look forward to seeing everyone Sunday or Monday this coming week.

Many blessings for a wonderful formation year,
The Faith Formation Team

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

FAMILY FAITH at HOME FAMILY FAITH at HOME

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

INTRODUCTION: This new program is being piloted to support parents in sharing the Catholic faith with their children. Rooted in the Catechism’s teaching that the home is where children first encounter the faith, the program emphasizes the role of parents as primary educators and seeks to strengthen families as communities of grace, prayer, and Christian virtue.

WHAT TO EXPECT: At each meeting, families can look forward to fellowship, shared prayer, and practical tools for nurturing faith at home. Parents will be introduced to different forms of prayer, receive tips for family faith practices, and learn ways to celebrate Catholic traditions throughout the liturgical year. Meetings will also include table discussions on real-life faith questions, age-appropriate activities for children, and opportunities to strengthen connections with the parish community.

Location: Parish Center (800 High House Road)

Children traditionally receive Communion once they reach the age of reason and understand the mystery according to their capacity. This is normally around the age of seven or 1st-2nd grade. The Diocese of Raleigh calls for two years of sacramental preparation for families with children preparing for First Communion. You will register for year one or year two on the Realm form.

This program meets on Sundays from 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm.

Intermediate Sacramental Preparation (Grades 3-8) Intermediate Sacramental Preparation (Grades 3-8)

This sacrament preparation program is for baptized children who are 8 years of age or older and did not make First Holy Communion along with our traditional program. If your child is older than 7, he or she can still prepare for this sacrament. The Diocese of Raleigh calls for two years of Sacramental Preparation for families preparing for the First Eucharist, so your child will receive the sacrament in the spring of the second year of formation. Students are placed in ISP classes based on age: 8-10, 11-13, or 13-High School. This program meets on Sundays from 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
