Patriot's Pointe

Greetings Patriot Families,
We had another great week at The Creek! Curriculum Night was a great success for our families and students who attended. We appreciate everyone coming out to hear about the Competitive Advantage our school has to offer and to meet our teachers who support our students in their academic journey at Sandy Creek! Progress reports will be issued soon and Mrs. Beecham will be hosting our first Saturday Success session of the school year this Saturday, August 29th to allow students to catch up on work to improve their grades ahead of the published progress reports. You can find a listing of all progress reporting dates for the Fall semester further down in this newsletter.
A huge Thank You goes out to our PTSO for organizing our student leadership groups at each of our feeder schools last week leading up to the Jenkins Road Jam! Our Band, Cheerleaders, Football Players, Dancers, and Softball Players all visited car rider lines to promote school spirit and Jenkins Road Pride!

🏈 Congratulations to Coach Smiley and our Varsity Football for their commanding performance over Grayson High School. Our Patriots defeated Grayson in our home opener 21-13! We appreciate the positive energy from our community, staff members, and especially our student section. This week, our team will travel on the road to face Douglas County High School on Friday, August 28th at 7:30. Let's pack their house just like we showed up last week and support our reigning State Champions!
🥎 Congratulations to Coach Chisolm and our Varsity Softball team who defeated Hampton High School: 27-19 and Riverdale High School: 23-2 last week. Our Lady Patriots will play at home this week on Monday at 5:30 against The Heritage School and on Tuesday at 6:00pm against Langston Hughes High School.
Please come out and support our student athletes at home this week. A schedule of all of our events can be found further down in our "Weekly Happenings" section.
Here’s to a powerful start and a year where we will Do Hard Things!
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

2026-2027 Student Advisory Council
Applications are now open for State School Superintendent Richard Woods' 2026-2027 Student Advisory Council!
The Student Advisory Council gives Georgia students a direct voice in statewide education discussions. Members meet with Superintendent Woods throughout the school year, provide feedback on education policies, serve as student ambassadors, and complete a community service project.
This year, applications are open to Georgia public school students in grades 10-12 (including charter and virtual students). To broaden student voice, Superintendent Woods will also invite two homeschool students and two private school students to participate.

New Parent Drop Off and Bus Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Please note that we have updated our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures. These changes are intended to separate parent vehicles from student drivers, creating a safer environment for students as they cross the street and enter the building.
Bus Arrival/Dismissal:
Students who ride the bus will be dropped off and picked up in the back of the school behind the cafeteria.
Student Drivers:
Students who drive to school must park only in the designated student parking lot and display a valid parking pass on their rearview mirror. After parking, students should use the designated sidewalk adjacent to the student parking lot and remain on that path when entering the cafeteria each morning. Students are not permitted to park in the faculty parking lot. Violators will lose their parking privilege and have a sticker placed on their vehicle.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up:
Parent drop-off and pick-up will now take place at the front entrance of the school through the faculty parking lot. Please follow the traffic flow indicated by the arrows in the diagram below. To help ensure that faculty and staff can arrive and begin the school day on time, we ask that parents refrain from parking in faculty parking spaces during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
We appreciate your cooperation, patience, and support as we implement these updated procedures. Thank you for partnering with us to help make our arrival and dismissal process as safe and efficient as possible for all students and staff.
La hora límite para la salida de estudiantes es a las 3:15. No se harán excepciones después de esta hora.
Electronic Device Policy
At Sandy Creek High School, we are committed to creating a learning environment where every student can thrive. To support a strong and focused start to the school year, students may not use personal electronic devices including cell phones, earbuds/headphones, Meta glasses, smart watches, or similar devices, during the school day. This expectation applies in all areas of the building, including classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, gym/locker rooms, and restrooms. By minimizing distractions and maximizing opportunities for engagement, we are helping our students build meaningful connections, remain present in their learning, and begin the year with the habits that lead to success. We appreciate your partnership and support as we work together to provide every student with a positive learning experience.
Parent Square: Your Hub for Communication!
The Parent Square app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

Parents of Rising 11th grade Students
As your child transitions to the 11th grade, we want to ensure their health and safety remains our top priority. This is a reminder regarding the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) booster dose requirement for students who have turned 16 years old.
According to the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, students are due for one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday.
Please note that the DPH will be conducting an audit of 11th-grade students at SCHS on September 2, 2026. To facilitate compliance and ensure your child's participation in school activities is not disrupted, we kindly urge you to take this opportunity to schedule your child's vaccination appointment before September 2, 2026.
2026-2027 Student Code of Conduct
To ensure accurate bus information for every student, Fayette County Public Schools requires families to formally request transportation services before riding the school bus.
All students MUST BE REGISTERED in order to ride a bus. Please convey transportation needs for student(s) by logging into your Campus Parent portal and navigating to the Survey tool. Click here for more information on completing Campus Surveys.
School bus information will also be available in your student's Campus Portal account as well as on the BusQuest mobile app.
Please note that new enrollments and address changes may take up to 48 hours to be processed by the Transportation Department. This time is needed to assign students to a bus stop and/or adjust their route if necessary.
- Students attending outside their school zone on special permission are not eligible for bus transportation
- Students living within a non-transport zone are not eligible for bus transportation.

Friends and Family Sponsorship
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school.
