New Prospect Elementary School Newsletter

Hello Panther Families!
What an incredible first two weeks of school! As you can see from the pep rally photos above, our students are already having a great time while learning important school expectations, building relationships, and engaging in meaningful learning experiences. We are off to a fantastic start and can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
Not only is our school a distinguished Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports school but we also our students participate in Student Success Skills (SSS)!
SSS
Students participate in SSS three times each week during Morning Meeting. SSS is a Fulton County Schools adapted program designed to help students develop the social, emotional, and academic skills needed to be successful in school and in life.
Through engaging lessons and discussions, students learn important skills such as self-awareness, self-management, relationship building, responsible decision-making, goal setting, problem-solving, and coping strategies. These lessons help create a positive school climate while supporting students' overall well-being and academic growth.
Each month, SSS lessons are connected to a district-wide theme that aligns with students' developmental needs and important awareness initiatives. I encourage you to ask their children about the SSS lessons they are learning and discuss how these skills can be practiced at home and in their community. Together, we can help our students build the confidence, resilience, and character needed to thrive which is just as important as Math & Reading!
Below is an image of the monthly themes your children will be working on and we will be celebrating!
PBIS
Here at New Prospect, we live by our PAWS expectations:
Pride, Attitude, Wise Choices, and Safety.
Each homeroom class participated in PAWS lessons during Morning Meeting as students learned what our PAWS expectations mean and how to demonstrate them everywhere at New Prospect, from the classroom and cafeteria to the playground and the bus! For example, students practiced ways to ride the bus safely, respectfully, and responsibly while following PAWS expectations.
To celebrate the launch of PAWS, we enjoyed a whole-school pep rally! Students created class flags, answered PAWS trivia, & enjoyed friendly house competitions. House chants filled the building with school spirit, teamwork, and enthusiasm as students came together to celebrate our school community.
For our behavior program to be successful, it takes a strong partnership between home and school. Throughout the year, the PBIS team will share updates, resources, and celebrations in this newsletter. We welcome your ideas, questions, and feedback as we work together to make PBIS a positive and meaningful experience for all students.
You can support PAWS at home by:
- Reviewing behavior expectations with your child.
- Using the four PAWS expectations in your daily routines.
- Providing positive reinforcement through praise, encouragement, and quality time when your child makes good choices.
- Sharing comments, ideas, or questions with members of the PBIS team.
🐾 Ask your student what the PAWS expectations mean and how many PAWS Points they have earned!
Please remember that learning positive behavior is just as important as learning academic skills. Just like in reading and math, mistakes are part of the learning process. When families and school staff work together, we can help every child grow socially, emotionally, and academically while building the skills they need to be successful both in and out of school.
