Once again, our students are showing their commitment to learning through great attendance! Each day a class has perfect attendance, they earn a letter to spell out CHIEFS. When all the letters are earned, the class receives a special reward.

This week, the following classes celebrated earning CHIEFS and enjoyed an extra recess:

👏 A huge shoutout to Miss David’s class for being the FIRST to earn CHIEFS twice this year!

Their great choices—like showing self-awareness, taking care of their health, not spreading germs, getting plenty of sleep, and arriving to school on time—have paid off! They earned extra Chromebook time as their reward.

✨ And the best part? When they spell CHIEFS a third time, they’ll get to celebrate with a Treat Party!

Why Good Attendance Matters

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s success at school. When students are here every day, they:

• Build stronger connections with classmates and teachers

• Stay on track with learning and avoid falling behind

• Develop responsibility and good habits for the future

• Have more opportunities to participate in fun celebrations like CHIEFS!

Our Zitzman Elementary nursing staff will be conducting vision and hearing screenings on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

If your child’s results show any concerns, you will receive a notification letter with more information. If you prefer that your child not participate in the screenings, please contact our school nurse.

State regulations require all students to be compliant with immunization requirements in order to attend school. Students who are not compliant by October 1, 2025 will be excluded from school until the proper documentation is provided.

Our school nurse will be sending home a list by Friday if your child is not currently in compliance. Please know we have made multiple reminders beginning last school year through summer communications, registrations, open houses, emails, phone calls, and letters.

A student is considered compliant in one of the following four ways:

• An up-to-date vaccine record turned in to the school nurse

• An “In Progress” note from a doctor or health department with a confirmed future appointment for required vaccines

• A medical exemption from a doctor

• A religious exemption form

To support families, the Franklin County Health Department will be holding a vaccine clinic at PHS and Riverbend on September 26, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 a.m.

• Parents do not need to attend the clinic in person, but a signed consent form must be turned in ahead of time.

• Consent forms are due now if you would like your child to participate in this clinic.

We are honored to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Rhonda Lee, a beloved 2nd-grade teacher at Zitzman Elementary. Known for her joyful spirit, her love of reading, and the way she made every child feel valued, Mrs. Lee’s impact continues to shine through two special projects:

• The Legacy of Love Scholarship – awarded each spring to a Pacific High School senior pursuing education
• Mrs. Lee’s Outdoor Classroom – creating a beautiful learning space at Zitzman with shade and privacy fencing

As we head into our 5th week of school, the “new school year buzz” has started to settle into steady routines. With that shift comes a beautiful kind of growth—the small, everyday moments that add up over time. It’s in the way students walk into class with more confidence, the way friendships continue to deepen, and the way learning stretches them just a little more each day.

This season reminds us that growth isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. As we move into fall, we can see change unfolding all around us, and it’s a beautiful reflection of the growth happening within our students, too.

The energy in our building shows that learning isn’t just happening in big moments—it’s happening in the everyday steps forward. Confidence grows, kindness spreads, and classrooms shine a little brighter each week. Thank you for the many ways you support your children and our school.
