THE GRIZZLY GAZETTE

HAPPENING THIS WEEK AT GRISSOM
MR. HAUSER’S WEEKLY UPDATE
GRIZZLY LEGEND OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Hawkins has nominated Demian O.
She says Demian is a model student who represents what it means to have Grizzly Pride. He comes to class prepared and ready to learn every day. Demian is respectful of is his teachers and classmates by being involved in his learning through participation in class discussions and work. He goes above and beyond to show empathy towards others with a smile, a compliment, or offering to help others. We can always count on Demian's dedication to Grissom and is simply a great person to be around. Thank you, Demian, for a being a role model here at Grissom and showing us all how a little bit of kindness goes a long way!
GETTING TO KNOW A GRIZZLY
🐻 NEW THIS YEAR: GETTING TO KNOW A GRIZZLY!
We have some pretty incredible people who make Grissom a special place, and we want our Grizzly community to get to know them a little better!
Each week, we’ll sit down with a different member of the Grissom staff for a few questions, some rapid fire, and hopefully a few laughs along the way.
Who should we sit down with next? 👀

GRIZZLY KICKS OF THE WEEK
👟 GRIZZLY KICKS OF THE WEEK! 👟
Another week, another sneaker connection in the Grissom hallways!
This week, Kamari C. and Mr. Hauser linked up rocking the matching red and white Dunks!
Same kicks, different generations, but one thing is for sure… Kamari knows his sneaker game!
At this rate, Mr. Hauser might have to start checking with the students before picking out his shoes in the morning!
Who rocked them better? We'll let you decide!
Grizzly PRIDE is what we do!

SPORTS PHYSICALS
As we get ready for our fall athletic season, we want to remind families of an important requirement for any student planning to participate in a sport.
Any student attending a tryout or practice MUST have a current physical on file AND uploaded to Final Forms before they can participate.
This includes students participating in football and volleyball tryouts and practices.
Physical forms, along with directions for completing Final Forms, are available in the Grissom main office.
Families can also access Final Forms directly here:
https://warrenconsolidated-mi.finalforms.com/
Please make sure all required information is completed before your student attends a tryout or practice. Students who do not have the required physical and Final Forms information completed will not be able to participate.
Thank you for helping us make sure our student-athletes are ready to go. We’re looking forward to a great year of Grizzly Athletics!

E Scooter/E Bike Regulations
With the increased use of e-bikes and electric scooters by students, we want to ensure that students and families have clear information regarding applicable laws and expectations for their use on school property. The attached flyer is intended to provide consistent guidance across the district and can be shared with your school community.

ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Did you know that missing just two days of school a month adds up to nearly 20 days in a year? That’s a full month of lost learning! At Grissom Middle School, we believe every day matters. When students are present, they not only keep up academically, but also build friendships, confidence, and strong routines that set them up for future success.
Attendance is a priority this year at GMS, and we want to reduce the number of absences students have. Please see the flyer below for ways you can help support your child’s attendance. If you or your child run into any barriers to regular attendance, please reach out to the main office so we can work together to find solutions.
GMS BOOSTER CLUB
📣 Calling All Parents – We Need You!
Our Grissom Boosters are a huge part of what makes our school community special—but they can’t do it without parent support.
We’re looking for parents to join the Boosters and help chaperone at Booster-sponsored events. These activities make lasting memories for our students, but they only happen if we have volunteers.
FROM OUR GMS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
With the start of the school year we encourage all parents to actively use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to stay informed about their child’s academic progress throughout the year. (You’ll find the link below.)
If there’s anything you’d like us to know to better support your child—whether it’s their learning style, any challenges they face, or other important details—please don’t hesitate to reach out to their counselor.
By working together, we can make this school year a strong and successful one for every Grizzly!
