Jaguar Journal
August 10th, 2026: Edition 3
Message from Ms.Morgan
What a great first week of school! It was such a smooth start—it felt like our students never left!
We kicked off our Morning News Show on Friday, which shares important information and announcements with students each day. Please help your child start the day off right by arriving at school between 8:00–8:30 AM. This allows time for students to get breakfast and eat in the cafeteria.
Thank you for your patience this week with dismissal, delayed buses, and the car rider line. As the week progressed, we worked through most of the kinks, and things are running more smoothly each day.
We are off to a fantastic start and look forward to a wonderful year ahead! 🐾
🚸Crosswalk: There will be a staff member in the mornings at the crosswalk in front of the school connecting to the neighborhood. Be sure to follow the crosswalk rules, especially in a school zone.
**Check for the flashing lights and be sure you're not speeding so you may stop if a pedestrian needs to cross.
1. Georgia law requires drivers to stop and yield to people walking in crosswalks.
2. Drivers have to stop and stay stopped until the pedestrian has left their side of the road.
Communication: Be sure to check your child’s folder, teacher messages, and our school emails regularly. Important updates and information will be shared this way.
Attendance Matters: Consistent attendance is critical to learning.
Lunch: Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child beginning August 24th, 2026. Please contact your child’s teacher for specific lunch times. This allows students a few weeks to learn the routine and cafeteria expectations.
Lost and Found: Please write your child's name on everything he/she brings to school. In the event your child misplaces an item, the safety patrol students will be able to return the item quickly. Items not able to be returned will be placed in the lost and found area in our cafeteria.
Transportation
Help keep the Car Line Moving: Thank you for helping us ensure our car rider line runs as efficiently as possible. By following these procedures, you can help create a smooth arrival and departure for everyone.
NWEA MAP
MAP Reading: August 19th
MAP Math: August 20th
The NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment is a powerful tool that helps teachers and parents work together to ensure that each child is getting the personalized support they need to succeed.
- MAP assessments are administered three times a year—fall, winter, and spring. This schedule allows teachers to measure progress and adjust instruction throughout the school year.
If you have any questions about the MAP assessment or your child’s progress, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the school administration.
We love our Volunteers!
Sharon Elementary welcomes volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for your child's classroom, please contact their teacher. Volunteers must watch the training video, once the video has ended, follow the prompts to complete a background check.

PBIS (Positive Interventions and Supports)
At Sharon Elementary, we use PBIS – Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports – to help create a safe, respectful, and welcoming school environment where all students can learn and grow. PBIS is a school-wide approach that focuses on teaching and encouraging positive behaviors. Just like students learn math or reading, we believe behavior should be taught, practiced, and celebrated!
As Jaguars, we ROAR. We are Respectful, Organized, Accepting, and Responsible. Please review and remind your child that we want to ROAR every day in the cafeteria, hallways, playground, and in the classroom. We have lots of fun plans for this school year to reward positive behaviors.
The QR code in the flyer below does work! The other ones were deactivated.
