Wrapping Up Quarter 1

As we wrap up the first quarter next week, I want to encourage parents to talk with your children and help them assess their first quarter of the year. Here are some questions to ask:

  • How do you feel the first quarter of 8th grade went?
  • What are some successes? Challenges?
  • With the successes, how can we build on them?
  • With the challenges, what are some things that we can do to remove the barriers or adjust what we are doing to turn the challenges into successes?
  • Are your actions in school, class, halls helping me be the best student that I can be?
  • Who are the supports that you can use if those challenges continue?

Intramurals

Looking for more opportunities for your student to get involved with? Here at the Middle School, we offer intramural sports after school to include our 6th grade students as well as 7th and 8th graders in physical activities outside of our school sports. If you are interested, take a look at the attached flyer and contract Mr. Green (egreen@scsmustangs.org) or Mr. Bokar (jbokar@scsmustangs.org).

English Language Learners- Conversation Partners English Language Learners- Conversation Partners

Our Mustang Mentors have the opportunity monthly to volunteer during IE time to assist our EL students in learning how to have a conversation. It has been a great program that we've developed over the past year. Mrs. Atakan does a wonderful job of organizing this and empowering all of our students to be Model Mustangs!

Picking up/Dropping off at School

One change that we have implemented this year is our procedure for picking students up early. When picking up your child from school for appointments, not feeling well, or other reasons;

  • You will be required to park your car
  • Enter the building
  • Press the intercom and present your driver's license for identity verification
  • Sign out your child on the cart in the vestibule
When that is complete, your student will be called down and sent out to you.

Dropping your child off at school does not require you to come into the building as they can sign themselves in.

We appreciate your support in keeping our students and building safe.
