A Message from Mr. Chesser
Hello Bear Families!
The Big Day has arrived: The Motown Showdown.
This week was filled with Motown Showdown events. Tuesday night, Ms. Petillo, Ms. Vickery, and Ms. Ballew volunteered at Chic-Fil-A for "Go Bears!" Spirit Night. They had a lot of fun, and they said y'all were rolling through the drive through with your "Go Bears!" spirit shining.
Our students collected a giant pallet worth of peanut butter for the Montgomery Food Bank. Rumor has it that we collected over 50,000 ounces.
We finished our week with a loud, energy driven, and spirited pep-rally. One of the best I have ever been to. The number of students decked out in their grade level spirit colors and accessories, and the noise generated during the event, easily exceeded participation and decibel levels I have ever experienced. The Bear Pride on display yesterday is why MJH is so great. During the pep rally, our MJH Choir opened with a beautiful version of the National Anthem. Our Sports teams received shout outs and the Jr. Belles and Bears Cheer Squads performed. A group of our 8th grade boys also joined in the "dancing" fun via invitation from our cheer team. The best dressed and most spirited students were selected by our staff and rewarded. Our competition of the day was grade level tug-of-war battles, with 8th grade stepping into the winner circle. 8th grade also roared the loudest during the VICTORY cheer to take the coveted "Eightleena" spirit stick! Finishing off the envent, our MJH Band closed us out traditionally with the alma mater. It was truly a fun, fun, fun time.
Other things going on this week included "Music Friday Lunch" (on Thursday this week), a $1000 donation and bags of goodies and supplies from our neighboring Kroger store, and all the sports. Check out the rest of The Bear Bulletin for upcoming events, sporting news, and more.
Proud to serve Montgomery Junior High,

Celebrations & Highlights
The BEARS Award
Tammy Lumpkin is this weeks recipient of The BEARS Award. In her selection letter, Ms. Antilley highlighted recognition for the incredible time, energy, and heart Ms. Lumpkin pours into our students. Her Theater and UIL programs provide students with opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, discover new talents, and show sides of themselves that we may never see in the classroom.
Each week our staff recognizes one of their own for exhibiting excellence in their job through The Bears Award. Recipients of The Bears Award are selected and receive a handwritten note from the previous winner and a 'The Bears Award" lanyard pin. Buddy the Bear accompanies the winner for the week.
