CLASS NEWS CLASS NEWS

This week in PK4, we focused on friendship, sharing, and teamwork through fun, hands-on learning! Throughout the week, our learners drew self-portraits, measured each other with blocks and Legos, and collaborated on a giant classroom mural inspired by The Day the Crayons Came Home. We also explored what it means to be a good friend to others through stories like The Rainbow Fish and Winnie the Pooh Friendship Day, creating shimmering scale art and making friendship bracelets together. In fact August's family shared glitter glue with us so we could make our rainbow fish scales stand out! To top off our week, we enjoyed a visit from a special Mystery Reader (Jameson’s Dad!), celebrated Nora on her birthday and mixed up a batch of "Friendship Punch" each making it sweeter by our friendly ideas!

And....We are so excited to kick off our very first Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit next week around the big question: "What makes an animal a good pet?" It's perfect timing considering Tuesday at 8:00 AM will be the Blessing of the Pets on the lawn! If you are able to bring your pet, please join us. If your family or pet is unable to attend in person, don't worry—we have printed pet pictures for the kiddos to share or they are welcome to bring a stuffy to be blessed. I've heard it's the best kind of pandemonium!!

Lastlt, a HUGE thank you for signing up for conferences! Mrs. Groce and I are looking forward to sitting down with you and celebrating each of your kiddos!

Math Focus for Next Week:I

Our exploration of Pets will help us build foundational math and thinking skills! We will practice sorting—grouping visible attributes like size, color, or type as well as more abstract ideas like pet vs not a pet.

ELAR Focus for Next Week:

As we launch our Pet Project, we will share what we already know about pets, brainstorm what we want to learn, and begin thinking critically about how we know when we've truly answered a question. It’s going to be an inspiring week of curiosity, inquiry, and discovery!
