Hello Families,
We will be conducting our final ALICE drill this year the week of May 26th. Please use this link to access family resources. Teachers will prepare students for the drill on Thursday (5/22) or Friday (5/23). Additionally, teachers will debrief with students after the drill. We will continue to use our new Emergency Alert System during the drill which is located in the cafeteria, gym, near the playground and in the pods. This system is an additional safety feature added this year.
We eagerly await our beloved Author's Day event on May 29th. Thank you so much to those of you who have already volunteered. Please consider volunteering to help this whole school event run smoothly. Family volunteers will have an opportunity to sit with students and listen as they share their writing. it is a great opportunity to spend time with your children as well. You can use this link to sign up.
On Author's Day students are offered a popsicle at the end of the event. The popsicles are being provided by Food Services. If you DO NOT want your child to have a popsicle please complete this OPT OUT form.

Family Survey - PLEASE COMPLETE!
Dear Chelmsford Families,
Our district values your feedback! We are currently surveying The Chelmsford Public Schools families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district's effectiveness. We also want to better understand barriers to families accessing our schools and programs. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2025 Family Survey as we did in 2023 and 2024 as well. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses anonymous. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.
You may complete the survey online between Thursday May 1st and Friday June 13th using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the website below: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/chelmsfordma/family25/surveys
If you have multiple CPS school-aged children, please feel free to fill out multiple surveys to represent each individual child’s experience. The first question on the survey will be a dropdown to select which school you are filling the survey out for.
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact your building Principal.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Reminders and Updates
Recurring Reminders:
- Smartphones and Smart Watches: We strongly discourage sending your child to school with smart phones or watches. If your child brings either of these devices to school the expectation is that they are turned off and in their backpack.
- Snacks: Please remember to send your child in with a snack. The school has a very limited supply that gets depleted quickly and it is not to every students liking.
PE Reminder: Please help your child to remember to bring sneakers when they have Phys Ed. Snow boots are great for recess, but unsafe for the gymnasium. Also on PE days, I would suggest students wear T-shirts or layers so they can take their long sleeve off when they get hot. Thank you!
IIQ Help Desk Tickets: Some families have been using an unmonitored email for support with accessing the Aspen Family Portal. Instead, please use the incident IQ request form located on the CPS website under the parent drop down menu. Here is the direct link: https://chelmsford.incidentiq.com/guest/TKHNDKXH/parent-support#top .
Nurses Corner
Dear South Row Families,
This is a reminder that it is school policy to report when your child has been absent due to an illness. We request that everyone does this consistently. There are students at our school who have a serious autoimmune condition related to strep throat and other common infections. It is important that these families know if their child has been exposed to strep or other illnesses. If your child becomes sick, please notify Mrs. Sepe and/or me via phone or email. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, healthy environment for all of our students.
One more reminder, please monitor your child for head lice. The following information is helpful to keep in mind about head lice:
Head lice can happen to anyone. It is not a sign of poor hygiene habits or of being dirty. Even though they do not jump or fly, lice can spread from one student to another by sharing combs, brushes, clothing, and hats.
Please do your part to prevent the spread of this communicable condition by checking your child(ren) on a regular basis. Lice infestation is much easier to treat if caught early. If you should discover a case of head lice, please notify the health office, as well as the parents of your child’s close contacts. This is the best way to protect your family and community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact me via email or phone call.
Dandruff and lice are easy to confuse. The two look similar, but close inspection reveals key differences. Nits stick to the hair while dandruff flakes, easily falling off of hair. While dandruff is visible on the scalp, lice lay eggs on hair, not the scalp.
Warmly,
Nurse V.
