Beckwith Bulletin

October 31, 2025
BMS Community,
It was an extremely busy and exciting week at Beckwith!
On Monday, the final cross country meet of the season took place at Freetown-Lakeville, with all Massasoit League teams competing.
On Tuesday, we wrapped up the soccer season with final games against Norton at Bliss Field. Also on Tuesday, our high school visited Beckwith to present to our 7th and 8th graders.
On Wednesday, the Unified Bocce team played their final game of the year against Seekonk.
Thursday was Green and Gold Spirit Day, and in the evening, families attended Green and Gold Night at DRRHS, where our 7th and 8th graders explored all the great opportunities our high school has to offer.
Finally, on Friday, we celebrated Halloween Spirit Day, which was a spooktacular time at Beckwith as students and staff showed off their creative costumes before heading out for trick-or-treating that night.
Looking ahead, next Monday is the 6th Grade Bash! We’ll continue accepting money and permission slips until Monday morning, despite the date listed on the form.
Finally, students and staff at Beckwith Middle School proudly collected $459 during our “Change for Change” program to support the Linda Sousa – A Better Dream Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to educate and raise awareness about metastatic breast cancer and to contribute to breast cancer research, with the hope of one day eradicating this disease. We are so proud of our school community for their generosity and commitment to making a difference!

HOLIDAY DReams 2025
October 24, 2025
Dear DR Families,
The holidays are just around the corner — and we’re excited to announce that Holiday DReams 2025 is officially underway!
Once again, the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is partnering with the Greater Attleboro Council for Children to bring joy and comfort to local families through the Christmas is for Kids program. This wonderful initiative helps ensure that every child in our community experiences the warmth of the season with gifts and winter essentials.
Important Dates:
Families who have previously participated in Holiday DReams or Christmas is for Kids must apply by Friday, November 8, 2025.
Families who are new to the program have until Friday, November 22, 2025.
Applications are available at each school and at the Superintendent’s Office, or you can download one online. Please be sure to return your completed application with all required documentation in a sealed envelope by the appropriate deadline.
If you would like to support this effort, donations are welcome! Your generosity helps us make DReams come true for even more children this year.
To apply for gifts and clothing, please visit this link to a Google Folder with instructions and an application.
To learn more or donate, please visit www.councilforchildren.org.
If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me directly at bruney@drregional.org.
Thank you for helping us spread kindness and hope this holiday season.
Together, we are DR!
SECOND ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE IN MEMORY OF DONNA ARRUDA
Reminder:
Just a friendly reminder that the student handbook states students may have water in class with teacher permission. We welcome water bottles filled with water only at this time. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
ATTENDANCE REMINDER
Please remember that your student’s presence is powerful. It is our goal to ensure all students are here in school every day and with your help, we can make that happen!
This is just a friendly reminder to call the office when your student will be absent. This is not an excused absence unless we receive a note from a service provider. You can email that note or have your student bring it right to the office.
Additionally, Massachusetts State Law states that 8 absences in a quarter (about 45 days) is considered habitually truant. If your student is absent and you or they require assistance for any reason, please let us know. The full attendance policy can be seen as you read further in the SMORE.
This year, BMS is up and running with a theme of "Your Presence is Powerful!" This theme from DESE not only highlights the "vital connection between student attendance and academic/social success," but also stresses the importance of students choosing to be upstanders, supporting one another to create a culture where everyone feels valued and safe. Engagement creates transformation in our school community, and we invite you to be present as well by volunteering and attending events. When we are all actively present, we have the ability to create positive meaningful change in our school community.
KINDNESS E-WALL
We follow the same procedure above for Pickup. The School Day ends at 2:30 p.m. (dismissal begins at this time).
SCHOOL CAFETERIA INFORMATION
School breakfast and lunch will once again be provided free of charge to all students; however, all students must use the point-of-sale system to obtain their free lunch. Please encourage your child to remember their lunch PIN number, as this helps speed up the lunch lines. If a student forgets their PIN, the cafeteria staff need to look it up, which can cause delays. Please note that only breakfast will be served on early release days.
Additionally, please see below for a letter from Whitson's with instructions on setting up a MySchoolBucks account, which is required for purchasing snacks. This letter also includes information about the cafeteria's interactive menu and relevant contact details.
LUNCH MENUS
STUDENT ABSENCE PROCEDURE
Thank you for notifying us when your child will be absent. Please note that while these notifications prevent you from receiving an automated call from the district, they do not excuse the absence.
School attendance and punctuality are strongly linked to academic success. Time spent in class is invaluable and cannot be fully replicated by simply providing the absent student with missed work. Frequent absences can create gaps in a student's education that may affect them for years to come. For more information on attendance and absences, please review the Student Handbook.
To report your student's absence, please call the 24/7 Absence Line by the start of the school day (8:15 a.m.). Leave a message with your child's name and the reason for the absence. You can reach the Absence Line by calling 508-252-5080 and pressing 1. Alternatively, you may email the Main Office at bmsattendance@drregional.org by 8:15 a.m. This email address can also be used to report tardies or dismissals.
Families of students marked as having an unexcused absence who do not call the Absence Line or email the above address by 8:15 a.m. will receive a phone call, text message, and email notification from the District at 9:15 a.m., prompting them to confirm the absence with the Main Office as soon as possible.
All absences are considered unexcused except for the following: student medical appointment/illness/quarantine (with a doctor's note), bereavement, family emergencies, observance of major religious holidays, inclement weather that endangers the child's health, court appearances, out-of-school suspension, disability-related absences, and unique circumstances approved at the Principal's discretion. In cases of chronic or irregular absences reported to be due to illness, the school administration may request a physician's statement certifying the absences as justifiable.
Please arrange for doctor's notes to be sent to the Main Office via fax at 508-252-5082 or via email at bmsattendance@drregional.org.
