Successful Bond Refinancing
- The district refinanced older bonds to take advantage of lower interest rates, replacing debt that cost about 5% interest with new bonds costing about 2.93%, while still paying everything off by 2037.
- After costs, the refinancing will save the district about $1.65 million in interest, equal to $1.39 million in today’s dollars (about 11% of the refinanced amount).
- The refinancing also allows the district to pay off its School Bond Loan Fund loan one year earlier, avoiding an estimated $349,000 in additional interest.
- In total, the district is projected to save about $2 million, with no increase to the bond millage rate, and increased future bonding capacity

Happy February, everyone!
We’ve officially wrapped up the first week of the month, and it’s been great to see the energy back in our buildings after all the crazy weather we had in January. From classrooms to hallways to after-school activities, there’s a lot of good work happening every day, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
This past week, we held Parent-Teacher Conferences, and I want to thank everyone who helped make them successful. These conversations are critical and reflect the strong partnership between our schools and families. A special thank you to our teachers and staff for the extra time and preparation, and to our families for engaging in these conversations focused on student success.
February may be a shorter month. Thank you to our staff for continuing to show up for students with flexibility and commitment, and thank you to our families and community for your ongoing support.
As we head into the next few weeks, let’s keep the momentum going and continue working together to make Bellevue a great place to learn and grow.
Have a great weekend, and thanks for all you do!

Tiered Tidbits: MTSS Spotlight 📈
As part of the MTSS process, we use surveys to gather continuous feedback. The Coaching Effectiveness Survey was shared this past week, and we encourage you to take a few moments to complete it. Your voice is essential—it helps us celebrate successes, identify needs, and remove barriers to continued growth.
The District Implementation Team (DIT) will conduct a district-wide data analysis on February 18. This analysis will include survey feedback, fidelity measures, NWEA data, intervention data, attendance, behavior, and Early Warning Indicator information. The results will be used to update our implementation plan and action steps aligned with our MICIP plan and partnership agreement, ensuring our goals remain clearly prioritized for the success of both students and staff.
Thank you for your time and continued commitment.
