Suicide Prevention

September begins with Forgiveness Day. Did you know that? In fact, September National Days include Labor Day on the 7th, and on the 15h, we start the Hispanic Heritage Month. September is also a time when we focus on Suicide Prevention with remembrances, walks, and other activities - see SAMHSA’s Suicide Prevention Awareness Toolkit for ideas on how to promote safety. Below you will find 2 virtual free sessions on the topic and a few other resources.

Speaking of professional learning opportunities, we have many options. Please note that almost every picture/flyer is linked to registration. It is a pleasure for us to have you attend any of them. In the field of behavior and autism, we have PAX The Good Behavior Game (Tier 1), upcoming PBIS events (Tiers 1-3), Integrated Systems Framework, Executive Functioning Skills, ParaPro Series, and so much more!

Additionally, on November 9 & 10, we will hold our 2nd Annual ESC6 Behavior Conference. Presenters will focus on Skills for Life – including topics on behavior education practices, legal updates, FBA/BIP, behavior programing across tiers, addressing the needs of neurodivergent students, data collection systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy strategies for the classroom, and fostering resilience – to name a few. Teachers, counselors, behavior specialists, school psychologists, administrators – everyone is welcome. For registration, please use this link. Lunch will be provided, so it is crucial that you register as soon as possible.

But, before then, September is National Recovery Month. September was chosen in part because it’s the month that marks change—a transition from summer to fall, a natural metaphor for transformation and new beginnings. Recovery is a journey of change, too. It’s a deeply personal, often challenging process that involves learning new ways to think, cope, and connect. Thus, we hope you enjoy this month and that your journey is light. Your daily instruction guides the hearts and minds of our students. Let us know how we can best support you.

RESILIENCY 2026: The Power of Connection(s)

Online event

Wednesday, September 16 • 11 AM - 3:30 PM CDT

Overview

A Guided Resiliency Practice We don’t just talk about resilience — we actively practice it.

Resiliency 2026: The Power of Connection(s)

On September 16, 2026, we invite you to a free guided resiliency practice designed to help you reset, reconnect, and return to life with more capacity.

This is not a conference or content-heavy summit. It’s a grounded, human experience built around five essential forms of connection.

Continuing Education credits are available!

Why It Matters

When resilience is treated as an individual burden, people burn out. When it’s treated as a shared practice, people recover, adapt, and continue.

Resiliency And Happiness exists to support that shared practice.

Resiliency 2026 is designed to be felt and practiced, not just understood.

Resiliency 2026: The Power of Connection(s) is an experience created to help us pause, breathe, and return to ourselves.

In a world that pulls at us from every direction, this gathering offers steady ground.

Through five essential forms of connection; Presence, Truth, Connection, Agency, and Meaning — we move together toward what restores and strengthens us.

We don’t leave with more to carry. We leave clearer, steadier, and better able to meet the lives we’re living.

Behavior Coach Endorsement Program

September 19, 2026–June 14, 2027

Schools need behavior leaders who can do more than solve problems. They need coaches who can build systems, strengthen teams, and create lasting change.

The ESC Region 13 Behavior Coach Endorsement Program (BCEP) prepares educators, specialists, and campus leaders to coach with confidence using practical, research-based strategies they can apply immediately.

Over the course of this 240-hour endorsement program, you'll participate in live and on-demand virtual learning, coaching practice, guided reflection, and performance-based assessments while building skills to:

  • Coach through a trauma-informed lens.
  • Lead difficult conversations with clarity and empathy.
  • Build trust with educators and campus teams.
  • Use data to guide coaching and behavior support.
  • Strengthen schoolwide behavior systems through MTSS-B.

Whether you are new to coaching or seeking to elevate your current practice, this endorsement program offers a comprehensive, practical, and relationship-centered pathway to becoming a transformative behavior coach.
