7th grade parents will receive this in a permission slip style letter on Monday - but here is the info!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We wanted to inform you about an important aspect of our curriculum that will be discussed in a

presentation this semester. Our aim is to provide students with comprehensive and age-appropriate

information to promote a healthy understanding of their bodies, changes that occur during pubertym

relationships, and overall well-being.

The healthy bodies curriculum will be delivered in a thoughtful and sensitive manner, aligning with state guidelines and educational standards. We are happy to share the content of our curriculum at any time, and please understand that this curriculum is taken from the Health Skills for High School textbook and companion text approved by the Texas Legislature which has been made age appropriate and applicable for upper elementary and junior high age students. The curriculum will cover a range of topics, including anatomy and puberty, general body health, and then relationships, consent, and responsible decision-making at the Junior High level. It will be presented by Mrs. Piper, the high school counselor and science instructor along with the counselors and health instructors at school.

We understand the importance of involving parents in their child's education, especially when it comes to sensitive topics like body health. Therefore, we encourage you to engage in open conversations with your child about what they are learning in these presentations. We believe that a collaborative approach between school and home fosters a more supportive learning environment for students.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding the healthy bodies curriculum, please feel free to reach out to us. We value your feedback and want to ensure that all parents feel informed and comfortable with the material being covered. We appreciate your support in this important aspect of your child's education. Together, we can empower our students with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed and responsible decisions in their lives. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. As dictated by the Texas Education Code, guardians are required to provide their written consent prior to their children receiving reproductive education. You must OPT IN to the instruction below and we must have this permission on file. If you choose for your child NOT to participate, an alternative assignment will be given during the reading and discussion of this material in the classroom. Contact Mrs. Piper 940-937-6131 ext. 4040 or email jpiper@childressisd.net if you have any questions or concerns.
