Summit Elementary
School Newsletter - March 2025
Lucky us!
The luck of the Irish, 4-leaf clovers, rainbows, leprechauns, and pots of gold! March is full of lucky little symbols! What is luck other than chance? Have you ever given luck credit for results? Positive results = lucky me! Negative results = unlucky fate! It feels good when luck is on your side and things are going your way! If things don't turn out the way you hoped, it can be tempting to shake an angry fist in luck's direction and blame bad luck for your misfortune!
The times when it is most tempting to give luck credit is when the results are misaligned with our work. When we have worked hard, tried our best and given it all, but we still come up short; it must be bad luck that has driven the outcome! The same can be true when we see good fortune finding others even when they don't seem to be working hard enough to deserve such positive results! They must have good luck tipping the scales in their favor!
At Summit, one of our expectations is to be PURPOSEFUL! This means we are working to take all credit away from luck! The results belong to us - good, bad or indifferent! It is up to us to create the circumstances for the best results! This means that when results exceed our expectations or when the final outcome falls short despite our best efforts that it isn't luck, but rather opportunity that is tipping the scales! Each situation provides us with a new opportunity! We must take intentional and purposeful steps forward! Our 'GOOD LUCK' is limitless if we continue to be purposeful with all our actions turning every outcome into a positive pathway!
Lucky us and all the opportunities that lay ahead hidden in obstacles and shining bright in our successes! ~ Katie Rexford, Principal

Attendance Matters
A day here, a day there! A little late maybe! Leave a little early!
There are reasons that take us out of school! I will always support family needs and student health and well-being! However, the more consistent students are with attendance, the more successful they will be! They are learning routines and practicing structure! We are intentional about making our time meaningful. Every time a child is absent, it impacts their learning! We are establishing work habits and we want our children to be able to be productive Monday - Friday! Plus we miss them when they aren't at school!
If you need help making that happen, reach out! I am your partner in learning and we can find solutions together! Thank you for your partnership in getting our children to school on a regular basis!
Champions - Summer Camp
The district has partnered with Champions to provide before and after school care options for our families! If you have any questions you can reach out directly to the site supervisor Audra Boe by e-mailing her at audra.boe@discoverchampions.com.
Champions also has a child care available throughout the summer! Check out the flyer for more information!
Dressed for Success
- No pajamas or costumes (save those for special reward days)!
- Don't reveal any B's - bellies, bottoms, or bras!
- Shoes for playing and running!
- Easy for students to use the restroom (i.e. rompers might be hard for some girls because they can't unzip themselves)
- Nothing that is going to take their attention away from learning!
- Makeup is not necessary at our level! Our children are already as lovely as can be!
Thank you for your support and know that I am here to be your partner as we set our children up for success as studious learners!
