It's been a great week to be a Colt!

Socktober Drive

Anchored4Life students will be hosting a "Socktober" Drive Oct 20th through October 30th to collect socks for a local homeless shelter in Anchorage and the Fisher House on JBER.

The students will deliver boxes for sock collections to each Advisory class. The class that brings the most pairs of new socks at the end of the drive will win a special treat during an Advisory class.

Emergency Diaper and Wipe Drive

Our NJHS students are putting together an emergency diaper and wipe drive to help those affected by the typhoon in Western Alaska.

Starting next week, we are asking students to bring donations of diapers and wipes to school next Monday-Thursday, October 20th through October 23rd.

All donations can be dropped off in the Front Office and Room 202.

Donations will be brought to GCI on October 24th as part of their disaster relief distribution.

Parent Teacher Conferences are Here!

Dates & Times:

Wednesday: October 22nd, 1:30-4:10pm and 5:10-7:50pm

Thursday: October 23rd, 1:30-3:50pm

Things to Know:

- Please only sign up for one spot. This conference will be with your student's core teachers.

- To meet with elective teachers, feel free to meet with them before or after your scheduled conference. Sign-ups are not required to meet with elective teachers.

- Wednesday & Thursday will be Early Release Days. School will let out at 1:00pm.

- No school on Friday, October 24th!

Picture Retake Day

Picture Retake Day will be Wednesday, October 28th during all lunches.

After the 28th, we'll have more information about how to purchase pictures.

Girls Volleyball

The last day to accept Volleyball paperwork will be next Tuesday, October 21st.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Gruening!

Join us next Monday, October 20th, through Thursday, October 23rd, for this year's Scholastic Book Fair.

The Book Fair will also be open Parent/Teachers conferences.

6th Grade Schedule Changes on Monday!

6th Grade Families - your student’s schedule will be changing on Monday. The “Wheel” is changing on October 20th. They will be receiving their new schedule in 1st Period. - Ms. Hart

Free & Reduced Lunch Program

The Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program is a federally funded initiative that ensures all students have access to healthy meals during the school day, regardless of their family's financial situation.

Families who qualify based on household income can receive free or low-cost breakfast and lunch for their children through this program. It's confidential, easy to apply for, and helps support student learning and well-being.

Why it matters:
- Ensures no child goes hungry at school
- Supports academic success and focus
- Reduces financial stress on families

Every year students need to reapply. If you have already reapplied for the 2025-2026 school year, you are set!! Reach out to us if you have any questions!!
