School Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Recognition Month. We at Archer Glen would like to extend a huge thank you to our Board members, some of whom we’ve been lucky enough to work with as current and past parents and volunteers. We know first hand how thoughtful and diligent these individuals are and we are a better school, district, and community with their leadership and service. Thank you!

PAC Volunteers Needed

Archer Glen PAC is currently looking for volunteers to help with the following areas:

Dance Party on Friday, January 12th (signups are in Help Counter or email archerglenvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com )
Popcorn Fridays (signups are in Help Counter)
Spring Carnival

To use the HelpCounter app, please follow these steps:

Step 1 Submit your background check.
Step 2 Email the volunteer coordinator at archerglenvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com to make sure that your background check has been cleared. This generally takes two weeks to clear.
Step 3 Download the HelpCounter App onto your phone.
Step 4 Create an account using the same email that you shared with the PAC coordinator.
Step 5 Set your volunteer preferences and sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen.

Talent Show Coming in February

Start practicing now because the Archer Glen Talent Show will be held on February 22 and 23, 2024. Look for participation forms in next week's Friday Folders.

Come enjoy free popcorn and play Bingo on Friday, January 26th in the Archer Glen Cafeteria. Come anytime between 6:30-7:30 pm. The first two Bingo cards are free! All proceeds go towards Archer Glen's PAC.

Voices for the Performing Arts - Auditions for Grades 4-8 Being Held On Jan 9

Is your student interested have a passion for being on stage? Voices for the Performing Arts will be holding auditions on January 9 for students in grades 4-8 to participate in an upcoming play.

To audition:

Complete this registration form by Monday, January 8.
Prepare a monologue that is approximately one-minute long. It’s okay if it’s a little shorter. But do your best to find one that is around one-minute. If you are not sure how to get a monologue, you can find monologues for kids here and here.
Your monologue should be memorized if possible. During your audition, we will be looking for Stage Presence (comfortable and confident onstage), Voice (volume, diction, tone, pitch), and Character (telling the story).

Schedule of Participation:

Auditions will be held January 9, 3:45-5:45pm at the Sherwood Middle School Auditorium.
Callbacks will be held January 11, 3:45-5:45pm at the Sherwood Middle School Auditorium.
Rehearsals and Production Week - January 16-March 2 - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 3:45-5:45pm

At the January 11 callbacks students will be given small sections of the script to read together. Students will be notified if they need to attend the callbacks -- please note that while not all students will be called back, everyone who auditions gets a role! Monologues and callbacks will be used to determine who is the best fit for each character.
