Congratulations to Mrs. Holli Myers for winning the

Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts Award for the state of Ohio. Holli was nominated by her colleague and mentor, Mrs. Carol McKnight and was supported by SMS staff, administration and family in Columbus to receive this distinguished award.

Mrs. Myers is a dedicated educator, currently teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies on the 6th grade Viking's team. She aspires to be an ongoing learning so she can be her best for her students every day. She focuses on the whole child, designing lessons that support social/ emotional and academic needs. She continues to be a leader among her colleagues in the building and on our district learning team and is also a tech coach. We are grateful to have Mrs. Myers part of our school family and community. Congratulations!

The 8th Grade DC Trip for the class of 2028 will take place November 4-6, 2023.

We will be holding a mandatory Parent Meeting on Tuesday April 4th at 7pm at the Strongsville High School Auditorium for anyone who is interested in having their child participate in the trip this year.

**This is a mandatory meeting for parents of children who would like to attend the trip. Important dates and schedules will be discussed, as well as changes to chaperone requirements.

Congratulations to Stella Januszewski and Jack Kasner, 8th graders, were selected for the OMLA Student Leadership Award 2023. Stella and Jack were invited to a breakfast with their families and given awards among 20 other schools in our area. We are so proud of their dedication to their academic success, personal character and inclusion of others. Both Stella and Jack are well rounded students who model what it means to be a Mustang. Congratulations!

This week, Strongsville Middle School welcomed Mrs. Helen Marks to speak to the 8th graders about surviving the Holocaust. Mrs. Marks shared her story of staying hidden with another family, as her parents worked to keep her safe from the Nazis. Thank you Mrs. Marks for sharing your message and bringing awareness to our students about your story.

SMS hosted the 2023 Polaris Palooza Middle School Robotics Competition and brought home some hardware!

Congrats to Violet Karam And Jocelyn Koshel for placing 2nd out of 16 teams in the MadGrab event. Shout out to Damian Bjelanovic, Serena Matthei, and Miranda Breeden for placing 3rd overall in the dragster race. Amazing Job SMS Polaris Palooza Robotics Team and for the student innovation nation helpers!

Congratulations to our band and orchestra students for their concert this week and next week (Band, 3/22) as well as their participation in the music ensemble at Rocky River Middle School today. Great job to all of our students!

Attention 7th and 8th grade students: BW is hosting a free camp April 13 from 5:30-7:30 PM. In this camp, students will learn applied skills in cybersecurity using a Raspberry Pi! Students will learn how to create secret messages and encrypt and decrypt those messages. They will learn how to create a secure system and how to find out what may be lurking on their network. With cybersecurity becoming one of the top career fields, this is a camp you will not want to miss! For grades 7-12. Register here.

SHS Cheer Tryouts for the 23-24 season will be March 27-March 31st. If you are interested in trying out please scan the QR code to register for tryouts. There will be a mandatory parent/cheerleader meeting on March 6th at 6pm in the auditorium.

Join Strongsville High School Golf Team coaches and varsity golf players at the Girls Youth Strongsville Golf Camp! The camp is open to girls in 4th - 8th grades and focuses on developing the proper techniques in the golf swing, as well as improving skills for the short game and putting. The camp fee is $100 and will be held once a week in April and May from 6pm - 7pm at Valleaire Golf Club (6969 Boston Rd. / Hinckley).
