Message Regarding Regalia Message Regarding Regalia

Rock Hill High School Community,

We understand there has been a great deal of conversation regarding the graduation regalia at Rock Hill High School, and I want to provide some clarity.

After careful consideration and communication with RHHS stakeholders, the graduation regalia will remain unchanged.

I appreciate the passion our students, families, alumni, and community have for the traditions that make Rock Hill High School such a special place. That pride is a testament to the rich history and legacy of our school.

As principal, I take full responsibility for the vetting process regarding the consideration of changes to the graduation regalia. After listening to the feedback received, I have made the decision to keep the current regalia.

Seniors who have already taken portraits in the black gown will have the opportunity to retake their photos in the garnet gown. Retake days will be December 1 and 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. A schedule will be provided closer to the date.

I look forward to honoring the Class of 2027 and celebrating all they have accomplished. Thank you for your continued support of Rock Hill High School and our students.

“Once a Bearcat, Always a Bearcat”.

Sincerely,

Beauregard King, V.
Principal
Rock Hill High School

RHHS Forensic Science Class Project

Forensic Science classes have started learning about crime scene evidence collection and the importance of solid scientific evidence like DNA samples. Students chose a person who had their case re-evaluated through the Innocence Project and presented their findings to the class.

  • The Innocence Project was created by Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld in 1992. Their goal was to reexamine post-conviction cases and exonerate those who are wrongfully convicted.
  • The Innocence Project uses DNA evidence to provide conclusive proof of guilt/innocence.
  • They have helped to re-evaluate over 360 cases. 87% of the cases they looked at were wrongful convictions!
