Next week, Twin Hickory is stepping into our Reading Era! 🎶📖 We have lots of ways for families to join in the fun including some fun spirit days, check out the flyer below for details!

🛍️ Book Fair: Come shop for a new favorite book on Monday from 3:00–5:00 PM or Tuesday from 4:00–6:00 PM. There’s nothing better than leaving with a new book to read!

💙 PTA Community Meeting: Join us Tuesday at 6:00 PM to connect with other Twin Hickory families and our school community.

And don’t forget to keep the reading celebration going at home! Cuddle up, grab a favorite book, and make some time to read together. Whether it’s a new book from the Book Fair or an old favorite, every story is worth celebrating! ❤️📚

The Book Fair Is HERE!

The Scholastic Book Fair is at Twin Hickory this week! Please stop by Twin Hickory on Monday, September 14th from 3-5pm or Tuesday, September 15th from 4-6 (and then stay for the PTA meeting at 6pm!) There are so many cool books and this is a fundraiser for our school so all purchases (online or in person) directly benefit our school library! If you can't stop by in person, visit the online book fair at scholastic.com/bf/twinhickoryelementaryschool.

Community Conversation Series: The Anxious Generation and Tech in Schools

The nine schools in the Deep Run Feeder Pattern are excited to launch our Community Conversation Series, a new opportunity for families, staff, and community members to connect and engage in meaningful dialogue throughout the school year and beyond.

Be sure to watch our promo video featuring some of our students!

Our first Community Conversation will focus on The Anxious Generation and the role of technology in schools: Screen Time vs. Green Time. While we encourage participants to read or listen to the book before attending, it is not required. Future topics in the series will be driven by our community and centered on the issues that matter most to you.

Please mark your calendar and join us at Deep Run High School on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Deep Run Homecoming Parade

We are grateful for our connection with the DRHS community! The Deep Run High School Homecoming Parade is Friday, September 18 starting at 5:15p. The parade route is from the Shady Grove YMCA on Twin Hickory Road to the Deep Run student parking lot. All members of our community are invited to line the street and enjoy the parade (and to get candy)! Then stay for our football game at 7p at the Deep Run stadium. Let's show the wildcats some trailblazer LOVE!

Back to School Foms

PowerSchool Parent Portal is now open to families for the 2026-27 academic year, which means Ecollect Forms is back in action too! Please complete your child's forms as soon as possible!

Directions for creating a PowerSchool account can be found by clicking here. PowerSchool Parent Portal allows parents/guardians many conveniences such as completing online forms, viewing student grades and assignments, accessing bus routes and numbers, and more and will be a very helpful resource throughout the school year.

Student ID Cards

Student ID Cards were distributed on the first day of school. Students are responsible for bringing these cards to school EVERY DAY. If a card is lost or broken, the first replacement will be free and after that, each new card will cost $5.00. Students will scan their ID cards when getting on and off the bus, checking out books from the library, purchasing meals in the cafeteria, signing in after the tardy bell, and visiting the clinic.

Trailblazer Club Sign Up Contest

Week 3 results are in! Kindergarten has taken the lead! We have 2 weeks left, so there is time to catch up! If you have not yet signed up/renewed your membership for the year, please do so by 9/27! SIGN UP/RENEW HERE.

PTA Meeting 9/15 at 6pm - Come hear what's happening at THES, learn what the PTA has planned, and find out how you can get involved.

Chipotle Spirit Night - Join the PTA at Chipotle (5300 Wyndham Forest Dr) on Wednesday, 9/16 for a Spirit Night! From 4-8PM, Chipotle will donate 25% of sales to the PTA. Just mention Twin Hickory Elementary School to the cashiers, show the flyer sent home in purple folders, or use the code X6Y4PML for online pickup! See you there!
